My name is Vianney 👋

My friends would probably describe me as sensitive, positive and joyful person. Let's hope it's true 🌞 Let's say I am very sensitive to the Beautiful in this world, in people, nature or culture, and that I try to always bring up the best out of everybody. In other words, I love nature and I love kind people :)

Respect of the other, sharing, sincerity, benevolence, kindness, empathy and optimism are values I try to keep as guiding principles. Well, above all things the true guiding principle for is love. Some (or all?!) are born to love; I think I fall in this category :) I would also put kindness has its twin principle, and something I promised my grandmother I would always strive to embody!

I am heterosexual man but in my everyday life I strive to be a feminist (I read a lot of works on this, and learn a lot from my girlfriend who is a very dedicated woman 💪) and a LGBTQ and minorities ally.

So to give you a super rapid story of me :

I have grown with 3 sisters and a very humane and loving mother; I feel so grateful about this! However, I also grew up with a (sigh) super negative stepfather; I feel also super grateful because this has pushed me to flourish in true opposition: a positive mindset is the key to a better life :)

I have had the chance to travel quite a lot as a kid, with my father living in China for a long time. I have also studied 4 years in Montreal, Canada, which will always feel like home. After that I moved to Geneva, Switzerland, to work for 2 years, and more recently I moved back to Paris to be closer to the people I love. Oh and also I quit my job to take some time for me to learn new things and travel!

I am currently learning how to sail, with the ambition to do a cross-Atlantic by the end of the year 2022! Also I have been learning first aid, reading lots of things on neurosciences, biology, philosophy, etc., went to work on farms, crossed France with a tandem bike... So it's quite a rich sabbatical year, with always this ambition to meet new souls and new ideas that will help me become a bit more myself. So joining couchsurfing is something I think will bring me a lot, and hopefully bring a lot to all the great humans I'll meet through it :)

I believe a good philosophy of life is one that puts "meeting" and "sharing" at the core of our existence. Meeting new people, sharing moments, ideas and knowledge is so important to personal and collective flourishing. ☀✨

I recently discovered Wwoof (a platform to go work on organic farms / eco conscious projects where you can host volunteers or be a volunteer) and truly fell in love with the concept. My hosts were such amazing humans, just like all the other volunteers who were staying. It has given me a good cup of faith, which is necessary in today's beautiful yet rapidly degrading world!

So I really hope to meet fun, simple and lovely humans on this platform, and to discover a new way of travelling that is much richer. 🌻

The bands I listen to a lot at the moment are : Khruangbin, Africando, Yuri Buenaventura, Stevie Wonder, The Beatles, Donna Summer, Yves Honor, Ocar Petterson Trio, Joao Gilberto (❤), Fela Kuti, Abba, Celine Dion...

I am a big fan of the Tolkien universe, having reads all its books, and watched the Lord of the Rings millions times! I really like Paolo Sorrentino as a director: the Grande Belleza is a beautiful masterpiece! Other movies I've liked recently are : Il Postino, West Side Story (both versions), La La Land, Don't Look up, Where the Crawdads sing (the book is also very cool)... Oh and I forgot: I am huge fan of the Ghibli studio. My favorite movie is Howl's Moving Castle by Hayao Miyazaki.

On top of this I have recently started getting into anime : I watched Attack on Titans, Jujustu Kaizen and Demon Slayer. Any tips on what I should watch next?

My favorite books... Oh wow there are many! Recently I read the 1Q84 series by Murakami and truly enjoyed it. I am a big fan of Camus, Stefan Zweig, William Boyd, Orwell... Let's keep this discussion for when we meet! :)

我做过的一件不可思议的事情

I recently biked from Béziers (France) to Bordeaux on a tandem bike with one of my best friend. That was a super fun experience, especially since we ran into thousands of issues with our tandem bike. But that's what adventures are: they oscillate between the misadventure and the goodadventure, and that how powerful moments are shared (and remembered)!

ow here is a little overview of what I like!

First I want to say I am curious about everything!! Keeping an open mind is so important to me. So I'd love to learn about your occupation, your passions, etc. It's why I am on this website!

I personally like to talk about many subjects (philosophy, history, biology, sciences, art, literature). I love reading and writing, poems in particular! I also love to sing; so if you have a guitare or a piano we can start a mini band, I'll do the choirs ;) Dancing is also one of my favorite thing in the WORLD. I have learnt on the dancefloor to move my body on disco, electronic music, and pretty much all kinds of music (with much or less success I have to admit haha).

Last year I decided to learn salsa with my girlfriends, which was one of my dreams, so now I am starting to get the hang of it!

Something else that is important to note is that I absolutely LOVE cooking 👩‍🍳 I prefer to eat vegetarian (I'll try to prove to you we can make delicious food without meat!) but I can adapt to menu, I am not too difficult.
