About Me

ABOUT ME

So I'm a teacher by profession - Quantitative Methods (maths!) and English at a business school. But I'm not all prim and proper! I'm pretty laid back and relaxed and I don't talk about maths much at all (though I can if you want) I'm English but have lived in France for some time, in a lost little place in the country. We have organic fruit and vegetables, a goat, that kind of thing. But my husband looks after all that, I'm less practical. I'm more intelectual though have never really been able to translate that into anything very concrete or financially rewarding unfortunately!

Interests

The world is full of amazing details don't you think? And some of the most engaging things are the most simple. I love people (most of the time) and good conversation; swimming in cold water in deserted places, drawing and painting when I get time. And I love music, though I'm not musical. I sing very badly to the horror of my family.
I love driving. I travel sometimes on my own, sometimes with my daughter, finding little festivals and music in different places. I like learning new stuff and studying. I love my job too.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Moving from the industrial North of England to rural France was pretty cool. Very liberating. And I have watched my kids grow up. That's amazing. I notice, and not unsurprisingly, that most people on this site are too young to have had that pleasure, so it probably sounds a really middle-aged and boring thing to say. Sorry! Much as I like being with people, I also like the freedom of my own company. Last year I drove across Spain on my own - over 1000 km in one day. I left my daughter in Granada early morning, and I finished in a bar in the Pyrenees in the evening and got drunk with a bunch of people I didn't know before. That was a perfect day; the solitude of the long drive, beautiful landscape and then good company (and a few beers!)
