About Me

CURRENT MISSION

improve my oral English

ABOUT ME

Hi, all. My name is Vicky. Of course that is my English name. Chinese people, especially the young people always choose an English name for themselves, because eastern people think it fairly hard to remember Chinese namesO(∩_∩)O~ For example, my Chinese name is Liang Huiqing, in which Liang is my family name. It's quite different from eastern names, for your family names are always behind your first names.

I am an exchange student in Germany from China, south China, near Hong Kong. I will stay in Europe only for one semester, and now I'm living in Dortmund. I am studying, travelling and exploring Europe. I want to travel as many countries here as possible within the limitted time, because I love experiencing new things and making new friends through my journey. Every time I travel to one place, I am eager to get to know the local people there because in that way, I can know more and deeply about the real life there through talking with and listening to the local people's stories. I think it is a fantastic thing that I cannot learn from reading books or watching TV. Of course, I am so pleased to tell my stories to other people.

PHILOSOPHY

Loving the people who love me and enjoying the life I am living.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I love travelling and once when I was searching some information about travelling in the internet, I found that there was a book called "Couch Travelling" which was written by a Chinese girl. It was my first time to hear the concept of "Couch Travelling", and I felt so interested in it, so I began to read this book and I found that it was really very meaningful and worth having a try. Therefore, I logged in and be a member of it. I think it is a good platform for people from all over the world to get to know each other well. Even though I am just a new commer, I hope you can give me a chance to be a friend with you.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have had four experiences of couch surfing:

1. Luxembourg: I lived in a Turkish boy's room with other three friends of me for one night when we were travelling Luxenbourg. The host is a Phd student in Luxembourg now and he is an active guy in organizing the couch surfing activities in this website. When we felt helpless not to find a couch host the day before we set out to Luxembourg, he came out and gave us the offer. We five spent a very happy night in his room. We talked about our personal experiences, the recent disease in Germany, the different cultures and so on. We also bought many food in the supermarket and cooked in his room, but it was a little bit pity that he is a vegetarian so he was not able to try the delicious meat we cooked in the very Chinese way but with the eastern cooking machine.

2. Brussels: When we travelled in Brussels, we lived in a very big house. The host was a also a Phd student, but he gave up his study in order to better pursue his dream. We were sleeping in the basement that night. That is a very warm and nice basement and there are some music instruments. We spent a very good night there. We talked with the host and his six roommates and played with his parrot, chicken and cat.

3. Zanndam: We had to go to Amsterdam to give our presentation on the Management Project those days, so we found a host living near Amsterdam and we met our lovely, friendly, kind-hearted and interesting host in Zanndam. They are the middle-aged couple living with a quiet and lovely old-aged cat. We spent three nights with them and we all thought that it was our favourite host. We talked about almost everything, had a walk together after dinner, made the travel plan, booked the tikets, cooked the food, drunk the beer, ate the cookies, played with the cat, watched their family photos... We did lots of things together and all of us had fun. And we even thought that the male host looks a little like our professor in Germany. The interesting thing is that the professor is also a Dutch, so we told our host that maybe they are the brothers. Our lovely host searched our professor on the internet because he wanted to find some photos to see how they look alike, but he didn't think so at last. That was a very little funny thing!

4. Paris: Our host in Paris is a poker player. We planned to stay in his house for four nights, but we just spent one night there because the rest days we met our friend in Paris and she wanted us to live in her house. Although it was only one night, and the host is not so good at English, we spent a nice day in his house. We felt interested in his work --- poker player. He taught Jing how to play different kinds of poker that night and Jing also taught him how to play the Chinese poker.

Interests

I show interest in lots of things, such as dancing, painting, Chinese calligraphy, running, tabble tennis, travelling, watching movies, searching on the internet and making friends.

I like to watch my good friends playing basketball and football even though I don't even know how to play it myself.
