Overview
About Me
I'm Víctor Bargiela, a 22 year old boy. I'm (usually) quite cheerful, and really talkative! I love spending a good time with people, share a good chat and some nice wine. I live in Barcelona with my parents, as I'm still studying at university. I started to study Architecture when I was 18 but 3 years after, I realised it wasn't for me, so I started studying Linguistics and changed my life for the better. I really love languages and their cultures and literatures and I'm willing to open myself to other languages outside Europe (tagalog and swahili are my next targets). My other passion is music, I've studied for a long time at the Conservatory of Barcelona, although now I'm only working as a harp teacher. I like music, and I am open to any kind of music. My favourites are Rachmaninoff and Dvorak in Classical music, and then a bit of everything, but what I really love is discovering new music in new languages aside from all the US's influence. In my free time, I dance in a Catalan folklore group!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I have signed up in Couchsurfing cause I think it can be a really nice way to discover the places I'm visiting on a deeper way, trying to connect better with the environment and understand the society that inhabitates the beautiful landscapes!

Music, Movies, and Books
I love reading, and Murakami and Gabriel García Márquez always get me out of this world when I need it, but I also try to read Catalan contemporaries, which share their vision of my closest reality with another eyes and in a poetrier way (Empar Moliner, Quim Monzó, Sebastià Portell). And I really like reading non-fiction books, lately, I've enjoyed a lot «Ways of Seeing» (by John Berger).
When it comes to movies, I really like European cinema, and I try to see everything I can from the countries that surround me, even though it is usually easier to find the newest Hollywood film than a Portuguese or French one in Barcelona's cinemas. I love Sorrentino, and Almodóvar fascinates me.
About music, I really like all kinds, to say a few names, I'll mention Rachmaninoff, Dvorak, Lutoslawski, Dawid Podsiadlo, Damien Rice, Florence and the Machine, Regina Spektor, Nina Zilli, Zoo, Cristina Branco or Oques Grasses.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
For the last three summers, I have been working in a theatre festival in Frankfurt (Germany). For two weeks, we fill the riverside with colors, music and a lot of life! All of it, with really nice theatre companies from around the globe and amazing performers. We all live in the same house during the festival, sharing the space with artists, organisers and volunteers. It is an incredible feeling every year!
What I Can Share with Hosts
I love chatting for long and exchanging perspectives on our lives and cultural approaches to the world we live in. I also love to cook and to learn new recipes from around!
