About Me

I am a student at the University of Exeter who is looking to use their student loan to further their development through travel rather than ramen noodles. I'm very chilled out and occasionally funny, I love meeting new people because I love to hear their stories and I work hard to stay in touch with the people I have made connections with, especially so if they are not on Facebook. One wall in my room is full of photos of people who have made a meaningful difference in my life, and I would like to add more to it.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I would really love to travel, but no one ever told me how expensive it all is. I also love meeting new people and swapping stories, and I hate being in the same place for too long.

Interests

I'm generally quite quiet when I'm settled in - I like movies, crafts, boardgames, reading e.t.c. I like swapping stories with people, learning new things experiencing completely different worlds to mine.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love almost all genres, I am completely hooked on the Kingslayer Chronicles (which I have been waiting for the third book for, for forever) and I love everything by Markus Zusak, but I like more generally popular books like the Hunger Games, John Green books and I do adore Harry Potter. I'm mainly into pop music but I'll listen to whatever is on and I do have a soft spot for rock. I love a good chick flick (although apparently my use of the term is too broad - Kill Bill 100% is a chick flick) but I also love Sci-Fis, Musicals, Disney and animated movies, actions - anything basically.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

This is a really hard one for anyone to answer. I think the most amazing thing I've ever done so far would be the summer I spent completely at my best friend's house. Nothing about it was particularly extraordinary - we played board games and card games in the sun and went fishing in rock pools - but for two people with very hectic lives it was a beautiful, blissful summer that I will cherish forever.

Teach, Learn, Share

I have basic councillor training, so if you're in a rough spot you can crash at mine for a day or two and we can try and work something out. Equally that means I am a good listener and also anything you say to me would be kept in confidence. I have successfully taught a grand total of 8 people how to knit (my last prodigy knitted a hot water bottle cover as her first attempt) so I will very happily teach you if you want to learn, I can also teach papier maché and a small amount of sculpting (I know how to make roses). I'm a native english speaker so I can help with any English.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can teach you how to knit if you don't know how already (I usually bring a spare pair of needles). I am a native english speaker so I can help with language immersion. I can cook hearty british meals like Cottage pie, toad in the hole, bangers and mash, bubble and squeak, full english breakfast (can you tell I'm trying to sell the English thing?). I'm very friendly and laid back, I find it very easy to get along with strangers and I have the broadest knowledge of card games of anyone I know. Basically I can cook, clean and do basic repairs (just let me know in advance so I can bring supplies, I can listen and give support on a range of problems as I have basic councillor training and you have found a pen-friend in me for life.
