I lived in the Pacific in Vanuatu, the birthplace of kava. Kava is a root that is ground up and soaked into a muddy liquid, traditionally drank out of a coconut shell, that gives a mildly sedative and pleasantly zen effect. On kava nights, I like to make a traditional dish of simboro (grated cassava wrapped in island cabbage and cooked in coconut milk) as "washemout," or a chaser. It is best enjoyed outside at dusk and with friends 😊 Let's make kava together!
