About Me

CURRENT MISSION

ABOUT ME

Native Seattlite with an itch for new places, people and experiences. I have lived in Copenhagen, Denmark for the last three years for work and graduate school. Previously, I was a Peace Corps volunteer in Samoa where I did village based development projects in a rural area. Various travels in Southern Africa and around Europe.

PHILOSOPHY

The quest for answers is more important than the answers themselves.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I am a newbie to couchsurfing but love the concept of people connecting directly to each other because I believe that people are good by nature and that we should not be so scared to trust each other. Striking up conversations with random people and hitchhiking are both examples.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

None as of yet but I hope that I will be able to stay with and meet people across the south and western seaboard.

Interests

I have always gravitated toward other countries but have been feeling a pull back to the US as of late. After my ride across the country, I plan to move to New Orleans to combine my education and hobby together to form a business with a long time friend from the Peace Corps. It will center around the overlap between private business and social/economic development. In other words, helping the private sector become more engaged in a social issue that affects them versus writing a check to a charity or NGO.

Other random interests are: biking (of course), skiing, NPR, Pacific Northwest Native American Art, backcountry camping, craft beer, local food, animal watching, mac products, yoga, global affairs.

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies: I have had a documentary obsession the last few years. Here are some of my favorites. American Movie, Fog of War, King of Kong, Thin Blue Line, Waste Land, Hearts of Darkness, Exit Through the Gift Shop.
Music: Any and all. Electronic to folk.
Books: I tend to get into phases with different authors. Lately it has been Michael Pollan. Previously, Mark Twain, George Orwell, Herman Hesse, Tom Robbins, H.G. Wells and others I can't remember.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Recently scuba dove with 20 manta rays in Kona, HI.

Teach, Learn, Share

If you would like to be bored we can talk about economics. If you like to travel, I would love to share stories. I would like to learn the harmonica, so on the off chance you do, great, if not, no worries.
