About Me
ABOUT ME
Reliable, friendly, calm, but have a sense of humour and ready to meet new, interesting people from different cultures . I'm a rather quite person, definitely not a "party animal", but of course I'm always up to a good chat in a pub or elsewhere. In a conversation, especially in a bigger group, I'm rather a listener type, but of course I have my own stories as well
PHILOSOPHY
"Fluctuat nec mergitur" - Tossed by the waves, but does not sink
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
To get an insight to local culture and history through the eyes of local people, who knows their cities and towns the best.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I surfed several times: during my Baltic trip (Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Finland) (2014), in the Benelux states (2014, 2015) , Italy (2015, 2017, 2018), Greece (2015), Romania (2015), England (2016), Spain (2016), Germany (2016), Ireland (2017), Israel (2017), Cyprus (2017), France (2017, 2018, 2019), Nicaragua (2018), Norway (2018), Austria (2018), South Africa (2018) and Andorra (2019). They were all fantastic experiences, I met with great, trustworthy people.
I only hosted so far in Clermont-Ferrand, in my small dormitory room. In Budapest, it's quite complicated in my flat due to many reasons, my flatmates are not that into Couchsurfing.
Interests
I like traveling (both cultural and natural sights) , hiking (long term trails like El Camino and National Blue Tour of Hungary), getting to know new cultures (traveling is one of the best way of it) , reading (especially historical and semi-historical novels).
Besides my field, geography, I'm also deeply interested in history and current issues (geopolitics, world news, etc.)

Music, Movies, and Books
It's difficult to choose a particular type of music or an artist, as I mostly listen to a radio, with great variety. But if I have to choose something, jazz and world music deeply appeals to me.
I like all kinds of books and novel, related with history.
I'm not particularly experienced in movies and series, I watch less, than I should and I would like to do. Good comedies, historical films, movies with a deep message what I like the most, but any other type is possible to watch too.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Everywhere, where I have already travelled, I was impressed by the beauty and variety of nature, the cities and people. The plains of Ukraine or the mountains of Georgia, the cheerfullnes of the Italians or the friendliness of the Polish, the wonders of Paris and Tbilisi, they are all unforgettable memories. It's difficult to choose just some things, as there are a lot.
Maybe if I have to choose only one, it should be El Camino that I walked through in 2016. I won't say that it was a life-changing event, but it was an excellent opportunity to evaluate my years so far, to experience a part of Spain and to meet with great people.
Teach, Learn, Share
As a geographer I gladly share and hear any information and interesting things about the world, the space around us. I'm dealing with volcanology, geoheritage and GIS (geographical information science) all of them are very interesting field (in my opinion). For example, the last one is not well known, althoug widely used: Google Maps, GPS, interactive maps, like this one from my travels: https://qgiscloud.com/Gwythyr/Viktor_Vereb_travels/?e=-40075017%3B-59408081%3B40075017%3B59408081 (loading takes a bit of time)
I can teach some expressions and words from one the most difficult languages of the world: Hungarian.
