Hi there! 👋
I’m Viks, originally from Kharkiv, Ukraine. Now my husband Anton and I live in Germany with our little son Michal.

We moved to Germany about a year and a half ago, during a very uncertain time in our lives — it truly felt like a journey into the unknown. But now we can honestly say we feel at home here. We’re learning the language, discovering the culture, and realizing that we’re in the right place. 🏠

We love traveling, meeting new people, and sharing stories from around the world. Back in Ukraine, we hosted guests through Couchsurfing and had unforgettable experiences that truly opened our hearts and minds.

Anton is a passionate football player and fan (I had no choice but to join him 😅). Together we enjoy scuba diving, windsurfing, and exploring new places whenever possible.

I worked in IT (Quality Assurance) for over 10 years. These days I’m focused on raising our son and creating a cozy, welcoming home — usually with the smell of something freshly baked in the air.🧁

I’ve been living alcohol-free for five years now and now I prefer just still water. This year I finally found my way to balanced and mindful nutrition. I eat pretty much everything and love to cook — from light, healthy meals to juicy pork ribs in an amazing homemade marinade.

I also go to the gym regularly, love yoga, and many years ago fell in love with SUP boarding — hopefully by summer 2026 I’ll have my own board!

Anton works as a DevOps engineer for a German company and plays football three times a week.
Michal is a cheerful, curious boy who fills our days with laughter and makes every trip extra special.

🐈🐕🐶🐾❤️‍🩹Unfortunately, I’m allergic to animals — any animal secretions like saliva or sweat — so we can’t host or stay in places with pets.

我为什么加入 Couchsurfing

My friend from the USA told me about Couchsurfing and his passion for this community — and I instantly wanted to be part of it. I love the idea of genuine cultural exchange, kindness, and friendship that go beyond borders.

As I wrote earlier, we hosted travelers from different countries and it was always inspiring — sharing meals, stories, and laughter made us feel connected to the world.

For me, it’s incredibly interesting to learn the stories of people I meet through travel. I once dreamed about going on a round-the-world trip — and this year, through Couchsurfing, I met a person who actually did it! Listening to his experience was absolutely unforgettable — as if a piece of that dream became real for me too.

Staying with other hosts is also an amazing experience — it’s a chance to see how people live in different cultures, try something new, and for a few days truly live like the local family. That’s what I love most about Couchsurfing — every meeting is unique, warm, and incredibly interesting.

Every person has breathtaking experience and you never know when both of you going to be on the end of talking.

The last two: Miss Congeniality with Sandra Bullock and The Princess Diaries with Anne Hathaway. Many people say I look like her.

I love learning from people and sharing what I know in return. For me, a shared meal at one table is one of the best ways to exchange culture — it’s where real connection happens and in our home, we always share food at one table. It is our tradition, when you kinda press “Pause” and enjoy The Moment.

And I am inviting all of people, Couchserfers or their friends, or family members of them, or anyone who knocks in our door to feel this and have a talk.

I’m happy to teach you some Ukrainian dishes or show how to make juicy pork ribs in my special marinade. I enjoy cooking both healthy balanced meals and rich comfort food, depending on the mood.

I’d love to learn more about your local cuisine, new words in your language, or just hear stories about everyday life in your country — I find it fascinating how different yet similar we all are.

Anton usually keeps a box of beer on our balcony, so if you’re a beer lover — he’ll be happy to share one with you.

I’m also open to learning more about person‘s culture, and languages — and happy to share everything I know about IT, QA, yoga, and nutrition or my experience in this life.

I’ve volunteered in different areas — from cleaning parks and cooking for social events in a rope park, to helping with horse treatment. Each project taught me how small acts of kindness can make a big difference.
I also prepared to volunteer for Euro 2012, where I learned a bit of sign language (and still remember some of it!).
