Host when I can, give tips when I know something. I don't care your age, gender, or interests, it's not that way I accept or deny a request.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have lived some wonderful times while couchsurfing, met some really great people, and some silly ones too.

Nowadays, I trully think this site is quite dead. Just noticed that you had to be verified to skip ads... come on... when I started, I think we could call it a kind of community, the embodiment of a great idea. Now, seems more like a facebook website, where money and suspicion rules. I am not verified and guess what, that has never been a problem at all. Think that trust can be built upon those kind of settings? "Oh, you gave 25$ so you are trustworthy"... That's not how it works. Maybe this site is really dead, but it dosen't matter because the idea has spread, and there are still people who will help it linger. You can't monetize a state of mind.

And about that "serious user" we can see everywhere, who says that "every serious user should get verified", and that he doesn't host non verified people, you are the incarnation of what went wrong. Like now, there are "serious users" and other people, how great to divide a community. . . 25 box to build trust... It's not anymore about trust or community or "participating in creating a better world" now. if they said that it was about helping the website to be maintened online, well great, take my money, because it's great. But build trust... you don't buy trust. You create and earn it.

Finally, everyone should read the Terms of use, it's pretty... interesting, I think.
