About Me

Hello! My name is Vinny and I'm an easy-going 27 year old Australian with Chinese heritage.

I've been there ever since I was young and one of my fondest memories is when my dad used to take my sister and I to the beach after school - we'd learn to swim and then have Macca's ice cream afterwards.

I am grateful to have grown up here I'm ready to explore the world. I consider myself a foodie and whilst I'm not a good cook - I'd love to learn in my travels. I'm always up for a new adventure and I'd love to go skiing, snowboarding, white water rafting, scuba diving, volleyball - you name it, I'm up for it! Except height related adventures I'm much more hesitant haha.

Whilst I do love a good adventure I do love games as well - video games, board games and card games. I love to have a good laugh (I've been told my laugh is very unique) and will quote Simpsons references up the ying yang. So if you are a Simpsons fan you already get extra points in my book.

In the Myer-Briggs I'm an ISFJ but when I get to know somebody I can be quite talkative and always keen to meet new people.

I went straight from uni into a full-time job and now I would like a break from the usual 9-5. So I'm quitting my permanent job to go travel the world! Wanting to reach every continent so we'll see how I go!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: Alternative/punk rock, can't pass up some classic 90's hits either.

Movies: Favourite genre is psychological thriller by far...always has you guessing and makes you think twice even when the movie over. Two Weeks Notice - underrated romantic comedy! You can't pass up a good comedy.

Books: Teen Power Inc., Harry Potter, The Hunger Games, always looking for a good book to read...

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Obtaining my open water's diver's licence at Phi Phi Island in Thailand.

Sharing this experience with my sister was one of the best times I've ever had. There's just something about diving meters down into the ocean - immersing yourself in another world. Every colour in the rainbow was down there and I was just in awe at the magnificent scenery I was experiencing.

Not only did we get to see the amazing flora and fauna Thailand had on offer, we had good food, a good laugh and a good time!

It was devastating to think that I was in the exact area where the tsunami hit Thailand in 2004, makes you really appreciate what you have.

Teach, Learn, Share

I would love to teach others how to play board games - they are more fun than it sounds!

Also happy to teach English for anybody that would like to learn more. If you need help with English exams, assignments or just want to conversation practice, I'm more than happy to help. I've had about a years experience as an English teacher in Japan.

I would like to learn how to cook the local food!

I'm hoping that we can share life experiences, funny stories and have a good laugh!
