Overview
About Me
Main obsession: (classical) music. I love to play my instruments - the accordion, the piano and guitar - and to make music. I'm always happy to play with or for you!
Main occupation: Doing a PhD in Mathematics. This means essentially learning to solve problems and learning patience (from problems you cannot solve). In particular I'm really into mathematical physics and the theory behind quantum computers right now - but don't be afraid of me just because of that! :-)
Other hobbies:
- I like cooking. When time allows, I cook every day. I'm allways interested in foreign cuisines, unfamiliar tastes and new skills and techniques, but also enjoy to prepare dishes my father taught me when I was a child.
-As a bavarian I love to hike and climb in the Alps which used to be "right at my front door".
Now living in Copenhagen I unfortunately don't see any mountains, but I have the sea right at my front door.
-I do a lot of sports and always try to get more control over my body: I go to the climbing gym, slackline and do acroyoga. I also try to do yoga every day.
-In 2018/2019 I did a challenge with a friend to swim in a lake every week from summer to summer. I really love the experience of going into almost freezing water and the happiness it gives me afterwards. In Copenhagen I live very close to the sea - last year I went into the sea as often as I could, some weeks in December, January, February I went every second day.
Whenever I'm not engaged with all this stuff, I'm just sitting somewhere chilling and drinking coffee, preferably on the peak of a mountain.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
It's really less about seeing new places and visit new cities, it's more about meeting new people.
A lot of nice memories came out of staying on couches of people the I did not know before, I hope, I can collect some more of them!

Music, Movies, and Books
On the piano I prefer to play Beethoven and Rachmaninov, on the accordion Bach and Scarlatti. I also like to play and sing songs on the guitar.
I like to listen to classical music of any kind (opera, orchestra, solo piano, ...), to movie soundtracks (Hans Zimmer, Howard Shore,...), when I chill out I need music like Ben Howard, James Blake, Loyle Carner... I also really like Cosmo Sheldrake, but he does not fit in any of the above categories...
I read a lot, I'm kind of bad in remembering the content of books. I don't prefer any genre, but here are some authors that I really like (A very incomplete list...): My favourite author is - I think - David Foster Wallace. I also really like Houellebeqce, Dostojewski, Hermann Hesse, ... During highschool - I had lessons in Latin an ancient Greek - I "read" (at least tried to read) original texts by Homer, Platon, Aristoteles, etc as well as Caesar, Cicero and so on.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Playing a solo performance with my accordion for an audience of more than thousand listeners.
Teach, Learn, Share
I probably can teach you a lot of mathematics, physics and computer science - but if you are not interested in it I won't bother you with this stuff ;-).
But seriously: If there is anything to teach or learn, I'm willing to do it, I really enjoy cooking with others and there is always something to learn.
What I Can Share with Hosts
Hopefully some fun, maybe I can cook for (or better: with) you, and if you have a piano or a guitar I don't need a special invitation to give you a little concerto if you like.
