Overview
About Me
My parents decided to call me Vincent and I think it is a pretty cool name. So yeah, I'm Vincent.
In 2016/2017 I lived in Santiago, Chile's beautiful capital. At the moment I'm living Turkey to work at the Goethe-Institut in Ankara. I'm volunteering there but it basically is an internship
I work at the so-called Zoo Duisburg, the zoo of my city. Guiding people thru the zoo is what I do mostly but I also help on public events of the zoo. The job is perfect and I love it because it's different every time.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Of course I want to get to know people from other countries and to spend some time with them. As many others here I want somewhere to stay or to welcome someone in my home. I think spending some time with locals is the best to get to know a different culture. Showing people some of the German culture is also something I want to do because the German culture has to offer so much.
Interests
A few years ago I started assembling my first single speed bike and I enjoyed riding it and soon I discovered the so-called fixed gear bike and tried it and since then I ride a fixed gear every day. It has become a big part of my life and I try to do as many things by bike as I can. Here in Duisburg it is very easy to do because the city isn't the biggest.
When I was younger my mom used to take pictures on an old analog camera and I always said: "Why don't you get one of those new digital cameras?" and she always replied: "I won't buy one because I know that I'll never print out the pictures so why should I even be taking them then?" Now, over 10 years later I realized why she always took pictures with the analog camera and now today I'm using one as well. I love to get my developed photos, it's the best feeling ever to see pictures again but in your hands.

Music, Movies, and Books
I absolutely love reggaeton and Spanish music in general. In the last months I discovered Brazilian funk and like Iistening to alternative German hip hop and rap.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
One of the best experiences I've made in my life was when I lived in Santiago. My host dad works for the national telecommunications company, Entel. Entel owns this tower called Torre Entel which is a radio tower in the middle of Santiago and it oversees all of downtown Santiago. So my host dad asked me if I wanted to go to the top which is normally forbidden to the public. A few days later we went to the top via small stairways and an elevator only fitting two people and taking forever to get to the top but as soon as we arrived I realized it was worth it. You could oversee all of Santiago and it was not some kind of crowded tourist attraction. We spend at least two hours up there and watched the sun setting over Santiago.
