I live together with my girlfriend Melissa in Amsterdam, where I'm studying Artificial Intelligence. Next year I plan to start my masters in Bioinformatics, but for now I'm focused on completing my bachelors.

As a sidejob I work in a liquor store, and I also do some bartending and kitchen work for a caterer.

Me and my girlfriend Melissa have been hosting some surfers in our home in Amsterdam for a while (see also Melissa Buitenweg's profile for references). But the reason I made my own account now, is because I'm planning on making a solo trip to the UK in january 2016 and I think couchsurfing would make that trip much more memorable and fun.

My music style hangs a little bit between different genres. Most of it is rock, but even within the genre it differs from soft (Beatles, KT Tunstall) to something a little more punky (Zebrahead, The Subways). On top of that I also really enjoy different types of world music (Oi Va Voi, SKA-P, Koza Mostra)

Some of my favourite movies are Into the Wild, Intouchables, The Lego Movie, Scott Pilgrim vs the World, Avengers, Inception, Batman Begins and The Dark Knight
My favourite books are Discworld Novels (Pratchett), The Sword of Truth (Goodkind), Into the Wild (Kerouac), 1984 (Orwell).

A spontaneous hitchhiking trip through the Scottish Highlands. I was visiting a friend in Edinburgh in 2014, when we found out that there were free whiskey distillery tours and tasting throughout Scotland. We decided to hitchhike to a few of these distilleries. In 3 days we went from Edinburgh to Inverness, to the Isle of Skye and to Stirling. We met some really cool and nice people on the way.
