CURRENT MISSION
to live life to the fullest
ABOUT ME
Hmm, self description always difficult but I'll give it a try:
I am just a simple but ambitious student. I'm energetic, spontaneous but I can have my relaxed and laid-back moments as well, depends on the circumstances.
I intent to be disciplined and tidy, but I don't think it's the most important in life. I love to share ideas and also to tell/listen to stories. I am not a materialistic person and do not care about things, rather about people and about experiencing different ways of living.
I would like to find a place where the Dutch proverb "when you just behave normal, then you are strange enough" is a complete taboo. So far, I haven't found it yet.(Dutch: "doe maar gewoon dan doe je gek genoeg")
PHILOSOPHY
For me, life is all about what you make of it. How you experience it and how happy you are is what it is all about. Accept the negative aspects of life and keep on going with whatever you are doing. Every experience is nicer when shared.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Check out my references. I host and surf. Sometimes I create events and I come to meetings
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I have hosted a few times, and it was really nice to do. Have been surfing myself now in Milan. And I went to meetings in Hong Kong, Bangkok.
My CS experience in Amsterdam:
Spring clothes-swap meeting! this was great.I swapped some of my t-shirts for my traveling backpack.
I have been to official CS Amsterdam meetings too, which I recommend for any traveler in Amsterdam.
Interests
In short:
While traveling I like to try various exiting activities. My hobbies include biking, breakdance, surfing and watching movies.
Well, next is quite a long list of interrests:
First of all: people. Any challenging and exiting sport, cooking (yum!), reading, learning any kind of skill, couchsurfing, photographing, guitar (still a beginner), films (sometimes I think I watch way too many), documentaries (same), windsurfing, kitesurfing (too expensive though), sailing, yoga, waterpolo, breakdance, other kinds of dance, icehockey, martial arts, meditation
and last but not least: Traveling!
I am still searching for one thing to focus on, but I can't help being curious for everything.

Music, Movies, and Books
I love movies. My room is half a cinema! I like epic movies, comedy, and almost everything in between. not so keen on horror. I reject television though, it's just an absolute waste of time.
Music is a part of my life since I perform break dance. But nothing extremely important. I rather travel without MP3 player than with one, still in Amsterdam I prefer biking with some nice music. I have not one music style I like in particular, when it is just well-made music, the style doesn't really matter. For example, I enjoy Drum 'n Base and Classical music.
And I'm quite a bookworm as well. My favorite writer is writing in Dutch: Kader Abdolah
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I Hitchhiked through all New-Zealand where I did skydive, Bunjee jump, climb a glacier and I went kayaking the Abel Tasman national park for three days. I celebrated new year with Thai monks and then traveled through Thailand with a elder Monk for three weeks. I sat on top of one of the Temples of Ankor Wat at 5 am to see the sunrise and shivered in front of the tower of skulls in the killing fields. I also have been to the lowlands-festival three times, which was comletely whauw. I thought English to a group of 200 thai children. And I celebrated Chinese newyear in the chinatown of Bangkok!
Teach, Learn, Share
Anything can be learned or thought, I am open for all.
For myself: I have the experience that if you want something in life, you can get or achieve it! No matter what it is! It only matters how bad you want it.
