One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

In 2017, I took a midnight walk on the Long Bien Bridge in Hanoi, near where I grew up. During the day this century old French-built bridge was extremely busy, but at night the foggy silence magnified the elegant structure and induced a mystic ambiance. Completely alone, I felt immense nostalgia rushing back with images of little me in between my parents on our Honda Win motorbike as we were crossing the shaky bridge. The silvery sky, the crisp winter air, and the leisurely traffic of that morning 20 years ago suddenly came so alive. Hanoi has changed a lot in the last decades, but the past always seems so magical when fond memories pay a visit. I've seen a few wonderful things in the world, but that sudden return of a trivial childhood memory amazed me a great deal.
