About Me

I'm currently in Tokyo for an exchange semester. My main grad school is in Cologne, Germany, which I moved to in Oct 2017. Before that I lived in New York and had a very boring job in finance. I grew up in Vietnam and did my bachelor's in Connecticut.

I'd say I smile a lot and I'm quite friendly. I appreciate different perspectives and cultures.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

A few months ago, I took a midnight walk on the Long Bien Bridge in Hanoi, near where I grew up. During the day this century old French-built bridge was extremely busy, but at night the silence somehow magnified the elegant architecture and created a magical air. Completely alone, I felt immense nostalgia rushing back with images of little me in between my parents on our Honda Win motorbike as we were crossing the shaky bridge. The azure sky, the crisp winter air, and the leisurely traffic of that morning 20 years ago suddenly came so alive. Hanoi has changed a lot in the last decades, mostly for the better, but the past always seems wickedly charming when you look in hindsight. I've travelled near and far but that sudden return of such a trivial childhood memory somehow amazed me a great deal.
