About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Let's go exploring! ;)

ABOUT ME

Well, it is always the hardest part. Anyway. Let's see how can I describe myself.

My name is Istvan, which is the Hungarian equivalent of Steven/Stephan. If it's hard to pronounce, you can call me Steve ;)

I am usually really easy to get on with: a nice average guy. (At least according to most of the feedbacks I have).

I am a well-educated economist, which, however, does not mean too much :) Economics is not a No1 subject of my interest. I also wrote my thesis about a quite different issue: the question of Tibetan autonomy in a historical perspective... (See? No Supply-Demand curves) If I could start again, I would rather study cultural anthropology or social psychology.

Currently I am working as a project manager (or something like that), supporting projects in the energy sector. Erection of combined cycle power plants and stuff. Rather complicated and tiring, but money does not just appear from thin air unfortunately :D

Besides my job, I am an active volunteer in the Hungarian Leisure and Sports Association for the Visually Impaired, where I can meet wonderful people and I am glad to be able to help them running, cycling or just with everyday life. In 2010 we cycled all the way from Port to Santiago de Compostela on the route called El Camino Portuguése. An unforgettable experience! I am still planning to return and do the pilgrimage to Santiago on the Spanish track.

I have loads of plans for the future and most of them involve some travelling as well. I am lucky enough to have a wonderful wife-to-be, Eni, who also loves travelling. We are busily working on checking items on our Bucket List as early as possible.

My favourite comic is Calvin and Hobbes (what you can not learn from this opus, you most probably do not even need in life).

I love travelling and taking photographs. I prefer places with scenic landscapes, mountains and such, as well as places with deep culture and history. Currently my favourite place is Scotland, and the Isle of Skye in particular. The magical atmosphere there is something you should not miss! ;)

For 2012 me and my fiance have have great expectations: moving in our new common home, having our wedding and making a honeymoon down under in Australia, Tasmania and New-Zealand (dream destination).
Cross your fingers for us! :)

Thanks for taking the time to read this.
