About Me

I'm a grad student at the Yale School of Forestry and Environmental Studies. I'm interested in traveling and have done a fair bit of that in India and Europe. I'm a fledgling blogger and enthusiastic beer drinker. I used to live with my family (black labrador puppy included) in Bangalore, India, before moving to the US to begin grad school.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

To meet interesting people, share stories, and possibly make good friends. Oh, and also the budget travelling :)

Interests

I'm a geologist at heart and by training. My first great interest was rock and mineral collecting, which I am proud to have stuck to for the last 21 years! Besides that, I've recently become interested in long-distance running and am trying to hone my skills as a marathon runner (with mixed success, though I intend on trying hard!). I also write from time to time, and have published two articles in magazines in India.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love classic rock and some heavy metal, folk rock, and a bit of retro! Some of my favourite artists are Deep Purple, Megadeth, Simon and Garfunkel, and The Police.

I'm not much of a movie buff, but I do enjoy the occasional Sci-Fi picture and absolutely love Star Trek! I also enjoy animated films from Pixar (Ratatouille is my favourite!), and fantasy pictures.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I ran a half-marathon at 11,500 feet in Ladakh, India, to raise funds for nature conservation.

Teach, Learn, Share

I am passionate about teaching (but haven't found the courage to look at it as a career). Some of my most memorable college experiences included working as a teaching assistant in the Geology department. I do believe that teaching can be done in other ways however, such as through blogs or other forms of writing. I'm currently in the process of cultivating my blogging habits into a sustainable practice!

What I Can Share with Hosts

Great conversation over a beer or two, a lot of knowledge about India, the Earth Sciences, and possibly a breakfast or dessert of my creation :)

Countries I’ve Visited

Belgium, Canada, France, Germany, Malaysia, Mauritius, Netherlands, Romania, Spain, Switzerland, United States

Countries I’ve Lived In
