ABOUT ME

No days wasted! We live in rural Florida and love the natural playground! Some might call us rednecks, which is totally fine if you mean people who love to spend time outside and can get creative with simple entertainment. ;-) Disney and Daytona can keep their tourists; we spend our time in crystal clear natural springs with underwater caves, swim with the manatees, cast and dive for our fish, hit the many off-road trails by 4x4, camp on islands in the Gulf, and just generally soak up the sun, sand & salt. If you want to see why people live in Florida, we’ve got you. Daytona isn’t off the plate, but you’ll have to see Mickey on your own.

I teach 5th grade reading, so you can predict what my schedule will be like pretty well. My husband has his own business and can be flexible sometimes.

Our 21-year-old is our best friend. He goes everywhere with us and shares many of our values, including a love of traveling and exposure to variety. You’ll love him.

When we venture out of our beautiful state, it usually requires a passport. We love to meet people different than us and experience as much variety as possible. New Zealand and Iceland are probably our favorites so far due to their incredible people and stunning landscapes. Come teach us more about your heritage!

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I did a lot hosting in 2011 and met some of the most interesting & inspiring people of my life from all around the world. During my 6 months backpacking New Zealand, I surfed a lot and was always amazed at Kiwi hospitality, making lifelong friends along the way. When I returned, my now-husband and I hosted again for several months and have lifelong friends from it. After some big life changes, a wedding, a new house, and several new countries under our belts, we’re ready to host again.

We are weekend fisherman and masters at small town, simple life entertainment. I have an insatiable thirst for understanding people different than me.

I pride myself on my budget travels and
I'd love to share my travel experiences & desires and hear all about yours!

We’ll happily share our Southern hospitality, tons of stories, , a live of the ocean via our boat, fishing, and possibly swimming with the manatees, depending on the time of year.
