About Me

We are Evelien & Stefaan, a health conscious and spiritually-minded couple from Antwerp, Flanders.

I'm a voice over artist and health consultant. If you're Belgian and Flemish too you may have heard my voice through an internet or even a TV commercial, a company's interactive voice response system, an explainer video, ... My hobbies and interests tend to become professional activities so with a lifelong interest in all things health and the human body, I decided to become a holistic health coach in 2011. I didn't stop there, fortunately, there's so much more to learn and I keep learning new things on a daily basis. Did you know that our skin actually has photoreceptors?? This means that it's not only good for sunlight to hit our bare skin, but also that in spaces with harsh blue or fluorescent lighting, we better cover up our skin. Yes, you read that correctly. Exactly the other way around from what we are told to do.

My partner Stefaan might actually be the chillest person on the planet. He's a health coach and certified breathwork practitioner. He is committed to walking the spiritual path. Stefaan is taking a four-year course in druidism starting this fall.

Both of us are trained shamanic practitioners. I still practice, but more in the privacy of my own mind, whereas Stefaan continues to guide and help heal others through spiritual practices, rituals, and ceremonies.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I used to be pretty active on Couchsurfing from 2012 to 2013, met some lovely people through here. I have currently reactivated my account to help my sweet partner find a place to stay.

The rest of my profile further down has NOT been updated yet, these writings go all the way back to 2012...

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: Chris Knox, Tall Dwarfs, Alec Bathgate, Toy Love, David Kilgour and many more 80s New Zealand (post-)punk bands, Swell Maps, Wire, The Beatles, the Gainsbourgs, early Tori Amos; classical composers: Satie, Schumann, Liszt, Bach, ...

Books: I'm determined to get to volume 10 of Carl Jung's Collected Works... someday. I'm more of a non-fiction reader, but would love to delve into literature some more again. LOVED Jonathan Coe's "What A Carve Up!".

Movies: I love love love classic horror, Z-movie things, independent and art-house films, absurd humour, and anything starring Charlotte Gainsbourg or Christopher Lee. Not a fan of gore, though. Some faves: Nymphomaniac, The Science of Sleep, Satansbraten, Straw Dogs, Kramer vs Kramer, all Hammer Dracula films.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

- Writing to Chris Knox, a few messages back and forth, even though writing is nearly impossible for him post-stroke.
- Performing for about a thousand people with my (ex-)band Tex Taiwan at night club Fuse in 2010, an unusual experience. I must say, though, that I've loved every small concert just as much, if not more.
- Quite by chance I got to know Matt, Lambchop's bass player, through last.fm. We wrote for a year and last year I travelled to the US to meet him in real life.
- Having dreams that predict the future! Weird!

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm an experienced home-recorder, I can also talk a lot about song-writing and the key to good lyrics. I've been a full-time vegetarian for three years and I know healthy food from my Natural Health education. Lastly, I try to educate myself through alternative media as much as I can, as I'm very much concerned about environmental and other kinds of issues society is struggling with.
