Travel used to be a big part of who I was as a person, but I gave it up for six years to go back to university. Now that I'm graduated, I can finally focus on finding my way back to a life that fills me up. I'll be in Europe backpacking from November to January this year, trying to find myself between coffee shops and cobblestoned streets.

Meeting new people, sharing connections, and fostering community is really important to me, and one of the reasons I love to travel are the short, but strong connections made with people who are out in the world doing exactly the same thing I am doing. I'm not much of a partier, but will if I think it's a good time. I don't drink excessively, or smoke. My favourite time of day is the early morning, but I understand if I am in the minority here!

I used to be really active, but I've struggled with chronic illness since the covid years. I still enjoy hiking in the summer, and nordic skiing in the winter, but I've had to learn to pace myself. I have a bunch of food allergies, but I'm good about navigating them. I just often have to cook for myself instead of eating out.

Professionally, I'm an ecologist and work in research. My most recent projects include a monitoring program for moose habitat enhancement, age-dating of subalpine fir trees, and vegetation assessments. I get paid to look at plants, and I think that is pretty neat :)

I'm also an artist, and like to spend my time drawing, painting, doing pottery, knitting, or sewing, and I'm willing to learn a new craft pretty much always. I most frequently knit, which is my favourite way to kill a little time in the evenings and on planes. I'm an avid gardener in the summer!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've been a member of Couchsurfing for a long time, and it has always been my favourite way to navigate the globe. I've couchsurfed in Spain, France, England, Latvia, Czechia, India, and Nicaragua and I've loved it. Everyone I've met has been beautiful, and amazing, and I've had a really good time everywhere I've gone.
