We're a married couple who moved to France in Fall 2014.

Walker:
Playing music on any instrument I can get my hands on combined with a glass of bourbon is my idea of a good time. I also like to tune pianos. I love getting outdoors and deep into the wilderness. I started out my academic career doing field biology, doing turtle conservation, then banding birds in California. I also spent a few weeks hiking and banding birds in the Maya Mountains of Belize. The boundary waters of Northern Minnesota is a happy place for me.

Tegan:
I'm from Minnesota originally, threw my heart to Madison, Wisconsin after moving there for college, and have since lived many places. I write (mostly) fiction, and I love to: cook/eat, grow edibles in our window boxes, paint/make found image collage, practice yoga, camp/hike/kayak, read (especially magical realism and short fiction), watch movies, and explore new places. Passionate about social justice, women's and children's rights, protecting and sustaining a global environment. Most of my professional experience involves education, with a variety of emphases and student demographics. Interesting spots I've lived: a dry forest reserve on the Pacific coast of Ecuador, a tiny outer atoll in the Marshall Islands, a twenty-two person cooperative house in Wisconsin, and a giant orange mansion in Iowa. I studied international relations and conservation biology as an undergraduate. And mostly, I just love the ocean.

Tegan:
Working on drafts of book-length fiction. Practicing hatha, vinyasa, and yin styles of yoga. Learning French. Cooking. Reading. Trying new restaurants in France's gastronomic capital!

Walker:
Coming face to face with a puma in the jungle of Belize at night by myself. Jumping into the sea of Japan after riding 40 miles on a bike through a harbor town. Watching humpback whales breach off the coast of California. Successfully turning my giant historic orange mansion into a cozy music venue for bands touring through Iowa.

Tegan:
Lived on an island in the middle of the ocean for a year, where I didn't know the language or anyone else when I got there, and I had no access to internet or cell phones. Learned a little about organic farming from my very knowledgable friends Joe & Lonna at Onion Creek Farm in Iowa. Met Barack Obama at the White House Halloween party in 2009.
