About Me

I am finishing up a 3 year Clinical Herbalist training program in Vermont, and once that's done in December I'm heading to Ireland! So i am definitely interested in plants. I've never been to Ireland before but have wanted to for years - of course the beauty of the place is a big draw, along with wanting to visit a place where i actually have roots (half Irish, half Italian), having been born & raised on colonized land & never having been to a place where I have that kind of connection, even if it's generations back. I'll be there for two months (mid-december - early february) and am open to the possibilities of the place.
Things i'm drawn to include plants, the ocean, books, listening to music, dancing, crafts (wish i could spend more time on these last 2 though!)... i try to keep up with what's going on in the world & not feel too overwhelmed by it. In addition to my clinical herbalist program, I'm trying to learn more about astrology and to speak irish - i know most folks there speak english, but why not learn a little? I'm queer and have a 13 year old pitbull named Bertha (she's staying home of course). I like spending time with kiddos and used to be a preschool teacher. I like cooking but often make the same things. I love making herbal concoctions, especially vinegar-honey blends and tea blends. I like playing cards though it's infrequent and usually need the rules of games explained again :) I like writing and am trying to get back into the habit.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I joined a ways back but haven't actually used CS til now - I'm looking for places to stay in Ireland starting in mid-December - early February. I'm mainly going to be in County Kerry & County Cork, and I'd like to walk some of the Kerry Way &/or other spots. I'll be there over Winter Solstice - maybe spend it at Drombeg?? (plus will be around over Christmas, and New Year's Eve).
Basically when i travel, i like to stay with people.

I'm also looking to meet up with folks! If you're interested in going for hikes/walks especially, or check out museums, drink some tea, things like that! What's the deal with sheela na gigs? Let's go check them out.

Music, Movies, and Books

So many good books out there! Caliban & the Witch (so academic dense though), Octavia's Brood, bell hooks; Rosemary Gladstar's Family Herbal (different title now) was my first herbal go-to.

My favorite music changes a lot (especially over the years) but lately been listening to a lot of Valerie June, Huntress and the Holder of Hands, Santigold, Princess Nokia, Tyler the Creator, Rihanna, the Big Little Lies soundtrack, Insecure playlists, Mi Gente, Janelle Monae, Blackbird Raum, Downtown Boys, Young Fathers, The Hot Fives and Sevens...
