I love all things outdoors and adventurous, kayaking, climbing, hiking, cycling, horse riding...you name it. I'm an archaeologist by trade but that doesn't mean I'm only interested in ancient civilisations :P but it's definitively connected to my interest in learning about other cultures.
I'm just about to complete my PhD and want to take this opportunity to explore the world a bit more before starting my new job.

I think the best way to explore new countries and cultures is through contact with those who know it best, local people. We all can pick up a travel guide and go to the top 5 tourist destinations but I believe it's the people who make up any country and they might have a different view of what's worthwhile to see.
