Thru-hike the danged PCT !

ABOUT ME

I just graduated in April with a MS in alpine ecology and am going back for MORE school soon because I can't seem to get enough. However, in the meantime my boyfriend (Gavin)and I are through hiking the Pacific Crest Trail (pcta.org) and producing an education project called Wild Ones (wampusandzen.com). Through Wild Ones we are teaching Environmental Ed to 4th graders from the trail. Keep in mind the website is a work in progress... But we'd love to tell you all about it!

The two of us met hiking the Appalachian Trail in 2009 and agree that a major element of the thru-hiking experience is getting to check out all of the fun towns and meeting great local folks along the way. We would so much rather buy you a 6 pack and hear about your town from you than stay in another Motel 6!!

We also see this as a potential way to connect with peole who may make good interviewees for our education project. So if you are involved at all with the trail or local environmental/ecological efforts or research - or if you have a friend who is: let us know!

PHILOSOPHY

Currently I'm logged into a library computer with a ticking clock and many other hikers waiting!

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

We are from Fort Collins, CO. And, although neither of us have an account, Gavin and his roommates have hosted surfers over the last year and we've loved showing them around.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

The surfers we've spent time with in Fort Collins have been a blast. Typically we grab some bikes and do a tour of all the micro-breweries. Hard to go wrong...

Interessen

Obviously we both enjoy hauling heavy packs around in the wilderness for months on end.

Gavin is a painter and sculptor who also works with motorcycles.

I (Brooke) am interested in biogeochemistry and alpine ecology. Outside of school I swim, play some music, and ski.
