About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Learn to Trumpet!

ABOUT ME

My name is Mike and I love cheese beyond all other material things. Besides that I work for a solar-focused equity firm and I love it! I studied Environmental Economics because I'm one of those damn hippies. I grew up in New York and have lived in Rhode Island, Florida, California, and Ireland since then. ...and I like to converse especially when i have spare time!

PHILOSOPHY

"From the submission of our desires springs the virtue of resignation; from the freedom of our thoughts springs the whole world of art and philosophy, and the vision of beauty by which, at last, we half reconquer the reluctant world. But the vision of beauty is possible only to unfettered contemplation, to thoughts not weighted by the load of eager wishes; and thus Freedom comes only to those who no longer ask of life that it shall yield them any of those personal goods that are subject to the mutations of Time." -Bertrand Russell

"Eternal vigilance and constant mobility are the passwords of survival" -Che Guevarra

visited 26 states (11.5%)Create your own visited map of The World or another interesting project

Travelled from Shanghai to London mostly by train and staying exclusively with surfers. This is no doubt the best way to see the sights you would never see, do the things you would never do, engage in extraordinary conversations about local life, philosophies, cuisine, and the great mystery of it all!

Interests

Random conversations, tasty treats, swimming, bodyboarding, reading, hitchhiking, trekking, mountain biking, candle-lit dinners and long walks on the beach...

Music, Movies & Books

Books: Zen And The Art Of Motorcycle Maintenance, Small Is Beautiful: Economics as if People Mattered, Beowolf, Call of The Wild, Letters to a Young Doubter, On Bullshit, On The Road, Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs

Movies: I am coming to terms that I really do like chick flicks...among other things.

Music: Jazz Fusion, Funk, Electro, Ambient

One Amazing Thing I've Done

Studying abroad in Salamanca, Spain, 6 week backpack through Western Europe with my roommate from highschool, Hicthhiking from Anchorage, Alaska to Upstate New York to meet my family for the last days of summer, cycling up route 1 last summer with my university roommate, riding the trans-mongolian railway, living in India for 6 months

Teach, Learn, Share

Currently, I would love a partner-in-action to discover the city.

I am quite the beer and cheese snob so I will impart knowledge and the goods onto you if you give me fair warning and a couple of bucks. I can walk on my hands too. I'd like to learn how to cook so anyone willing to teach will be most welcome.
