About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To continue visiting varied countries and cultures across the world, whether by bike or foot. Recently spent a month travelling around Ireland living out of my car, before that I had an amazing two weeks hiking the 300km long Pembrokeshire Coast Path.

ABOUT ME

I'm a calm, gentle, nature-loving, trail hiking, vegetarian. The forest is my abode.

PHILOSOPHY

Educating the future

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

By surfing and respecting my hosts and fellow surfers!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

My first CS experience was staying at a Mongolian girl's apartment with her brother and a Canadian couch surfer who dragged me along; we watched the Olympic Judo whilst eating ice cream and drinking beer. Have surfed in China, Vietnam, Indonesia, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, India and Australia with some great people.

Music, Movies, and Books

A fan of most music, from Stravinsky to Santana to Stevie Wonder.
Big fan of science fiction books and films and read a lot of history books too and looking at maps for hours on end. Favourite books include the Hobbit, Watership Down, Moby Dick, Rendezvous with Rama and sequels, Dune and sequels, etc etc

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

One thing, seriously?
World trip that lasted 3 and a half years!!
Lived for three months in Iceland, Valley of the Gods is so beautiful.
Granted the privilege to witness a Tibetan sky burial.
Swimming with hundreds, maybe thousands of stingless jellyfish in Indonesia.
Cycling NZ and breaking my thumb, then constantly hiking.
A 10 day hike from Kosovo, into Montenegro, into Albania and back into Kosovo!
Komodo Dragons!

Teach, Learn, Share

People who know the country. People who have passion in what they love and do, people who travel!

What I Can Share with Hosts

Decent conservation. I mean conversation. It will probably lean towards conservation though, one of my main interests. I can share travel ideas, knowledge of the world and cultures, pointing out stars and constellations by sight alone, how to imitate an ape call, talk about sci-fi films and books until your head explodes, word and name origins, lots of geeky nerdy stuff. One thing I can't share is grooming/shaving tips. Non-existent currently.

Countries I’ve Visited

Albania, Australia, Bangladesh, Cambodia, China, Denmark, France, Germany, Hungary, Iceland, India, Indonesia, Ireland, Israel, Jordan, Kosovo, Laos, Malaysia, Malta, Mongolia, Montenegro, New Zealand, Palestine, Russian Federation, Singapore, Spain, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Tunisia, Viet Nam

Countries I’ve Lived In

Australia, Iceland, New Zealand, United Kingdom
