About Me

CURRENT MISSION

to introduce water to human beings beginning as early as a child in the womb.

ABOUT ME

I live to swim or do I swim to live!! I have a strong connection with water. If I ever write a book it will be about all the open waters I have swum in the United States. I was green when green wasn't cool! I graduated from Penn State University in Environmental Education and worked in Fossil Butte National Monument,Wyoming and Everglades National Park, Florida and River Ranger on the Colorado River out of Steamboat Springs,OR and interned at Sharon Audubon Society in Connecticut. In the summer of '07 I volunteered with Doctor Fernando, and his waterbirth community in Puerto Ordas, Venezuela, teaching BabySwim and giving pregnant women water massages.

PHILOSOPHY

You are a child of the universe, no less than the trees and the stars-you have a right to be here. And whether or not this is clear to you, no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have hosted and donated. This is an awesome social network and as soon as I have the money I will travel.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I couch surfed with Doctor Fernando and family in Venezuela for 3 weeks. My goal was to teach baby swim and be immersed in Spanish. He couch surfed with me in Oregon for 2 days when he attended the Gentle Birth Conference and so did I! He is not an official couch surfer member.

Interests

swimming in rivers, oceans and pools for workouts, kayaking, white water canoeing for starters. I would love to travel but find costs of flying are a bit beyond me. I also love to read literary novels, inspiring biographies, and novels about other countries to learn more about world cultures.

Music, Movies, and Books

Classical, Jazz, Latin and AfroCuban music. I like foreign films and some american chick flicks. Some of my recent favorite books are Three Cups of Tea, Under My Skin:My Life as a Sandanistan
Water For Elephants, Crescent and Bird of Paradise, novels about musicians and artists, The Flutist of Sarajevo, People of the Book, Galaway Bay and The Last Lecture.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Given birth to my daughter, Celeste, and my son, Lander, at home in my own bed with my best friends who are midwives. Having the courage to believe in myself, my body and birth as a natural process. Achieving a true paradigm shift to experience the most intense physical, emotional and spiritual act of my life, having life energy in the form of another human being move through through me and enter this world, all while sharing in this circle of power with wise women and being the central force in this life or death process. I now understanding that if God was a person (don't think so) she would be a women-the creator of life!

Teach, Learn, Share

Baby Swim: I would love to enjoy paid travel and teach my Aquanatal Program: baby swimming, water movement and deep relaxation (watsu inspired) for moms and couples.

I'd like to tutor English in other countries now that I am an "empty nester" and single.

I want to learn Spanish and need to find a 6 month or year stay. Preferably this would be in a place where I can tutor English. I am really interested in South and Central America.
