My name is Wayan--which means first-born in Balinese. (Even though I don't have siblings.) I grew up in New York City but, having fallen in love with the Rockies, I relocated to Colorado Springs for higher education. I am currently a senior at Colorado College, with a major in English literature and a minor in studio art--what some of my family members have dubbed "majoring in unemployment." Regardless, I love what I study, and I am considering teaching after I graduate. I love to read, draw, run, hike, and meet new people, which leads me to why I'm on Couchsurfing...

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm on Couchsurfing not only because it's a budget friendly option for me but because community is everything! Throughout my travels both in the States and abroad, I have come to the conclusion that people make the place. In my past experiences, I have found that the easiest way to escape that feeling of being a tourist is to speak with and develop relationships with the people who live in the place you are visiting. I am visiting Austin with my gal pal Evan next weekend, and I hope to find someone who can help me feel rooted during my stay--even if just for two nights!
