Overview
About Me
Hi! Firstly, thanks for taking the time to read my profile!
CURRENT MISSION
To live life seeing obstacles as opportunities, while exploring the world and sharing what I know.
EXPERIENCES
After graduating from high school at the end of 2013, I spent a year living abroad in Japan (through the organisation AFS). It was there that I fell in love with travelling. I don't mean the kind of travelling where you tick off the boxes. Eiffel Tower, check. Golden Gate Bridge, check. Rather, I fell in love with the everyday adventure of living in an unfamiliar environment. I fell in love with meeting people and sharing experiences.
In 2015 I was back in Sydney, beginning my studies at the University of New South Wales. I was itching to travel again, but as great travel writer Pico Iyer put it, I found “sitting still as a way of falling in love with the world and everything in it.” Perhaps a life of adventure isn't about always being on the move.
Earlier this year I decided to defer my studies (for another year). I now find myself designing and developing an app, while performing circus among other things.
PERSONALITY
I'm a very easygoing and simple person who loves to contemplate the small things in life.
PHILOSOPHY
“It matters not where or how far you travel—the farther commonly the worse—but how much alive you are.”
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
To stay curious.
I don't want to make it easy for me to step back inside my comfort zone. What's more terrifying than opening yourself up and showing your soul to the world? It forces me to grow rather than hiding in some sparkling hotel room all alone.
To change the world.
One connection at a time, slowly, we'll all understand each other. We can at least learn to be more patient with diversity and difference.
To share.
Knowledge. Stories. Skills. Food. Laughter. All of these things are more enjoyable when shared.

Music, Movies, and Books
MUSIC
While learning to dance bachata, I fell in love with Panacea Project's cover:

To get me in the mood to spin fire I listen to music like this:

Everybody needs to relax right? That's what this is for:

MOVIES
I never have any time to watch movies. Anything from Studio Ghibli is golden. (Princess Mononoke is my favourite).
BOOKS
I read too many books to list my favourites. I can give you a few that had radically changed my perception of the world:
The Obstacle Is The Way by Ryan Holiday
To Sell Is Human by Daniel H. Pink
Vagabonding by Rolf Potts
The Art Of Possibility by Rosamund & Benjamin Zander
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I've spent a year dancing with a yosakoi dance troupe in Japan, appearing in many of Japan's largest dance festivals.
What I Can Share with Hosts
My love of cooking. I would be more than happy to cook you a meal (or two).
Stories and oriental tales of my travels in the land of the rising sun.
Simple circus skills. Ever wanted to learn how to juggle?
Dance lessons in the styles of yosakoi (Japanese) and bachata (Latin). Get those hips moving.
