About Me

CURRENT MISSION

My mission as of now is to befriend the world that has given me life by giving my life to it.

ABOUT ME

I'm a thoughtful, funny realist who enjoys never traveling as a tourist. I love a good conversation, especially with new people! I'm more of a night person, but I take my rest very seriously.

PHILOSOPHY

Life is about discovery, as I've come to understand it: discovery of self, discovery of other selves. To respect is to love, and I've learned to accept that. It's not easy when the system(s) that we've all been born into attempt to destroy our love of self and one another. This is why I have sought to become a deep and active listener.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Because I live with my brother, who is a more experienced surfer, I've had the honor of hosting in his stead. Otherwise, I'm like the crazy roommate. ^__^

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Because I love to travel, I don't know what my experiences will be like; but, I look forward to each one as they shall unfold.

Interests

I spend a lot of time reading about politics and the world in general. I love science, especially social and biological. I definitely enjoy a party, and I'd rather do something new and unexpected than something routine or trendy.

Music, Movies, and Books

This list is long and expanding. I'm voracious in my acquisition of the sights, sounds, and texts of our species.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

When I spent time in San Francisco and San Diego, I had to walk along the rail tracks to get back to my hotel.

In San Diego, I was on a university trip, but I just had to go out by myself. I stopped at a little restaurant that looked like an adobe house, walked through a neighborhood, and people watched. I then walked from Mission Hill back to Fashion City (I think that's the part of town I was in). It took a while, but I cherished the journey.

I had gone to San Francisco for my 26th birthday, but I stayed in San Carlos, an area south of the actual city. One night, I missed my stop and had to walk back into San Carlos from two stops south of my hotel. I actually enjoyed my mistake. The night was beautiful and cool. I actually did a lot of walking on that trip: North and South along the Golden Gate Bridge, throughout the Castro and Haight & Ashbury district, and along the pier, avoiding the tourists.

Teach, Learn, Share

I love languages. In fact, I'm teaching myself Russian, slowly. I know a fair amount of Spanish and little enough French and Italian to be polite in my misunderstanding of most of it.

I enjoy sharing the story of my life. For me, it has been a drama of constant motion to such a degree that sitting still is a bit of luxury I appreciate whenever I can.
