ABOUT ME

Hi :) My name is Wayne. I'm a Taiwanese New Zealander but I only associate loosely with those identities - after all, one of the symptoms of chronic wanderlust is the inability to attach yourself to one geopolitical entity.

I left my job in January 2012 and traveled continuously for a little over half a year before returning to spend some time with my parents in Taiwan.

I enjoy food, languages, history, photography and hiking. I'm excited by new things and if anything just always find myself amazed by the diversity of this planet we live on.

I like to smile, I like to laugh, I don't drink. I enjoy in-depth conversations but if I'm tired I want nothing more than to curl up with a good book somewhere quiet.

PHILOSOPHY

Perhaps it was never the fall the from Eden, but rather the failure to recognise that Eden is in fact still all around us.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I hosted several surfers when I lived in the US and also surfed several couches when I traveled through Mexico and Central America.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

All of my Couchsurfing experiences have been overwhelmingly positive. It's a community that in many ways exemplifies the good things in this world.

I love reading and writing, in every language I know - some of my English favourites include the Lord of the Rings, His Dark Materials and Midnight's Children.

I watched the launch of the last planned space shuttle flight (STS 135) in from Kennedy Space Center in Florida in July 2011.

As the shuttle took off into the clouds, I couldn't help but wonder - What are we humans in the grand scope of things?
