CURRENT MISSION

Widow and Child in Need has been established to improve the physical, mental, and emotional well-being of thousands of orphans in Mbale District – Uganda, East Africa.

ABOUT ME

Hallo! We are David, Moureen, Aidah, Janet, Zubeda, Paul, Jane, Norah, Rebecca, Faith.... we leave all together in a little village 5km far from Mbale town in Eastern Uganda.
Our village is a quiet community and everyone is happy when volunteer(s) arrive. Our home is little and sweet home with a green garden. Lornah take care of us and provide at our education with the support of our sponosrs, we respect and love her and with her we walk to the future never alone.

PHILOSOPHY

Our village is next to Mt.Elgon where you can find Sipi falls if you like trekking you go mad but we can’t come with you because we have no car unless if you hire a taxi otherwise we wait for you at home / orphanage to tell you WELCOME BACK HOME! ANYWAY YOU ARE WELCOME!

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

If you want to come to visit us we will be happy to share with you our breakfast, lunch and supper. You’ll sleep in a different room separated from our house protected by mosquito net. We will provide hot water for your shower every morning, but toilet is African style, sorry just this we have at the moment:)
We like a lot play over all with the ball but also playing card, we like so much take photos and cooking with our guests.
If you would like to be our next surfer, remember we go to school and we can stay with you just weekends but we have school holidays which is some weeks from April - May, August - Beginning of September and finally Mid December to the beginning of February. In one year we have 3 school terms).
During school holiday we are free to stay with you, except when we revise our book, for us are important because learn is the future!
Lornah is proud if we improve at school… but if you’d like you can help us!

Above all: Volunteering with Widow and Child in Need means lending your time, energy and expertise to complete projects for the organizational developments. since Volunteers are an integral part of Widow and Child in Need work because their efforts move plans into action. Even if you don't have the time to get involved as a volunteer you can still make a positive impact by delivering supplies of any kind to Widow and Child in Need because we encourage travelers to support our organizations’ needs.
