have fun, always continue learning, love
i have an intense love of reality and life, and everything it has to offer, even when it seems like things aren't going how i wish they were. i'm usually pretty quiet until you get to know me. i'm very independent and very passionate about the earth. i enjoy being outside and being active more than just about anything. i'm very simple, full of wanderlust and curiosity, but also interested in and thirst for adventure so much it's often too much for me to handle. people fascinate me and i am constantly trying to understand them; although i'm very introverted and people can wear me out quickly, i do love meeting and learning from new (nice) people.
i'm not a terribly eloquent person, so i'll sum up my philosophy with my favorite quote:
"be the change you wish to see in the world." -gandhi

Why I’m on Couchsurfing
i haven't used cs successfully (plans just never worked out), but friends have raved about it quite a bit and i believe in its cause, so i do want to use it more.
the natural world. living simply. biking. climbing trees. climbing rocks. running. hiking. backpacking. wilderness areas. hula hooping. hot springs. doing anything outside. good, local food. making vegan food with people. potlucks. freeganism. stars. warm, sunny weather. learning. music. concerts. festivals. dancing like crazy. traveling. exploring. wandering. loving life and everyone. tolerance.
Music, Movies, and Books
the only music i dislike is country and death metal/screamo. i especially love indie, folk, classic rock, reggae, afrobeat, and anything fun and funky that makes me happy and i can dance to. but then i also love melancholy, chill music.. this is pretty much my music taste: http://last.fm/user/calendar__girl.
as for books, recently i've been most interested in nonfiction about the environment and adventure novels/modern classics.
i haven't seen too many movies and have generally lost interest in them.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
being alive is amazing for me, and any time i'm fully engrossed in the magnificence of the natural world i'm reminded of this. prime examples include: witnessing cosmic phenomena (a solar eclipse, the perseids meteor showers, and every time i look at the stars); walking through the redwood and sequoia forests in california; any time i've been in the mountains or on the pacific coast; hiking the appalachian trail; living on the road/vagabonding.
Teach, Learn, Share
i love baking bread and making vegan food with other people, especially those unfamiliar with veganism. i also love working on bikes (my own and others'). i love learning anything from others, especially anything related to plants, fungi, and wilderness skills (also things i love to teach about). i believe everyone has something interesting to share and a different point of view that is equally valuable.
