About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Yes. Feet on earth. Knock on wood. Touch stone. Good luck to all.

ABOUT ME

"If my decomposing carcass helps nourish the roots of a juniper tree or the wings of a vulture - that is immortality enough for me. And as much as anyone deserves." ~ E.A.

PHILOSOPHY

"Come on in. The earth, like the sun, like the air, belongs to everyone - and to no one."

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I've surfed a few couches...mostly in the southern parts of the United States. While I was living out in Lubbock I attended a few CS get togethers, which were always a good time. I was a regular at our monthly get togethers in Lancaster and had a great time with those folks. I had the chance to host a decent amount while living in Montevideo and it was great!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Surfing, hosting, or just hanging out, I've had a blast with the fellow CSers I've met. I'd say we're a pretty good bunch.

Interests

Nature, conservation, hypothesis testing, herpetology, the world in general, travel, good music, the sea, fishing, kayaking, SCUBA, good and/or bad beer, and bourbon. That sums up things pretty nicely.

...in no particular order. And I'm sure I missed a few important ones.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

For now it'd be hard to top my many wonderful adventures during a semester in the nation of Botswana...seeing the sun set over Moremi, watching elephants from a mokoro, noticing the hyenas gathering at the edges of the light thrown off from our campfire, drinking a Black Label while Summer of '69 blared on the jukebox at the little bar in the village of Shorobe.... (Although, at this juncture, I should probably update this section.)

Teach, Learn, Share

If there's one thing I could try to convince every person I meet (regardless if it's successful), it's the very deep conviction I've held since childhood that all life on this Earth has value - whether we ascribe some usefulness to it or not. To exist is to have worth.
