Hello people, I am Wessel Steinhaus. Born and raised in the cosy city of Meppel in the Netherlands. I am a graduated engineer who started the art academy last year to become an arts teacher! But due to covid I decided to take a gap year and travel trough the south of Europe by car.

I am a social guy who likes to have good conversations, about culture life and sometimes a bit philosophical. I am easy going and always try to be polite.

The last months I have been traveling and I have been volunteering in Italy, Spain and Portugal. Now I'm slowly heading home and I would love to Couchsurfing my way through the north of Spain to learn more about the Spanish culture and meet interesting people.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

For my cycling trip to Paris I where looking for a great place to stay on the way. Somebody told me about CS and so I tried. What I found was beyond expectation, the people and their stories gave it all a deeper layer. The kindness which I received was outstanding. And so I would like to give some back by welcoming people at my place.

I like to go on a adventure big or small and to write little stories about it all.
I love philosophy and just to keep wondering like little child and to be amazed about the world we live in.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

After graduation i cycled from my hometown to a friend in Paris. About 700 kilometers of adventure without real preperation, bought the bicycle a week before. Best idea ever!

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach something about dutch culture, cars and history. Tell some stories and have good conversations.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I might be capable of having a good conversation about life and maybe philosophical things. But on the other hand a good beer and a descent night out would also be a great one!

Maybe i can even look at your bicycle, as I am a amateur bicycle repair man. Or fix your radio or Anything.
