About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To seek out the indigenous hippies of far off lands, especially where they are rare and elusive.

ABOUT ME

Lawyer from the US re-embracing the itinerant life in Australia. I've lived in China as an English teacher and also traveled a bit in Central America and Europe.

PHILOSOPHY

Treat people as whole persons that have lives, goals, fears, and aspirations who are not to be trifled.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Looking to meet said hippies and see the commie underbelly of the cities they live in. Don't have much in the way of a permanent or semi-permanent residence so no hosting for a while.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I spent one night surfing in New Orleans, and I have met a number of new people while teaching English in China.

Interests

Brew Pubs, vegetarian cooking, non-vegetarian ethnic cooking, and architecture, historical sights, not generically tourist stuff.

Music, Movies, and Books

I'll watch anything on IFC once...

Death Cab, Foo Fighters, The Killers, The Shins, NIN...

Books... Recently finished "Flourish" re: positive psychology, a couple Michael Pollan books, still working on a biography of Mao and The Cider House Rules.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

On a whim drove from WI to DC overnight(and then back again a day later) so that more members of my college's gay-straight alliance could go to the Equal Rights March in 09.

Teach, Learn, Share

I really want to get better at reaching out to people when I'm new somewhere and just getting to know locals. Basically I want to have Anthony Bourdain or Henry Rollins as my mentor.

Myself, I can attach a PTO shaft to a tractor, assist in the castration of young farm animals, oh and i'm no longer religious (raised Missouri Synod Lutheran) but I'm a fan of alot of buddhist ethics and am more than willing to discuss the philosophy of it.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can make pasta from scratch, will clean just about any mess, and can reach lights and bathroom vents that need attention! Also, I can give some legal advice, maybe.

Countries I’ve Visited

Austria, Bulgaria, Costa Rica, Czech Republic, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Panama, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia

Countries I’ve Lived In

Australia, China, United States
