About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To be educated, meet people, and have great experiences in Europe this May!

PHILOSOPHY

I don't think I've ever written my personal philosophy down. I try to treat people with care and respect. I think that's the most important.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I just signed up for CouchSurfing, but my most memorable couch surfing experience was when I first moved to San Francisco and didn't have a place to live yet. A friendly couple on craigslist let me sleep on their couch until I found a place. I slept in the living room with a German Shepherd and freshly painted walls that gave me a headache. It was good to have somewhere to stay, though. I don't need much!

Interests

I'm a big computer nerd, and I also love making music (and listening to it, of course). I really like the density of cities, and just walking around them to find new things to do or see. I like hanging out in the park, getting drinks with friends, being social. OH, and I love riding my bike.

Music, Movies, and Books

I'll watch just about any movie, but I'll almost never watch a movie twice. I'm a big fan of David Lynch. I like a lot of electronic music, mostly the stuff on Warp Records, and also French electro. Indie rock. The two most recent books I have loved are Paul Krugman's "Conscience of a Liberal", and Jane Jacobs' "Death and Life of Great American Cities". I read more non-fiction than fiction.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Driving from Los Angeles to Austin, near sunrise, in the Arizona desert, I saw the most beautiful and strange combination of hills, fog, and sun I have ever witnessed. We would go down a small hill and be in thick fog, with cacti poking out of it here and there. Then, we would go up a small hill and be above the fog, driving toward a beautiful sunrise. Then back into the fog, etc.

Teach, Learn, Share

US cities would be much nicer if more people used bicycles to get where they were going. Also, I can make a loud popping sound with my tongue, and I might be able to teach you how to do it (although I think it's something you have to be born with, honestly).
