Overview
About Me
I've lived in Alaska 40+ years now. Built a home, raised a family, learned a trade, had some fun. Still at it. Did some travelling myself before settling down. Now I work at my craft, run a rooming cooperative in my home, brew the occasional beer and keep space open for guests.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I live in a house by the side of the road
Where the race of men go by.
Those who are good,
and those who are bad.
As good and bad as I.
I do not sit in the scorners seat
Nor hurl the cynics ban.
I live in a house by the side of the road.
I am a friend to man.
Interests
I'm a long-time software engineer and still enjoy the work. Last contract was for the University - academics are a hoot. Spent a couple of decades as a soccer player, coach and ref. Enjoy big game hunting mostly for the country but you can't beat the meat. A family man for the long haul, I truly enjoy sharing my home, and seeing the impact that has on my kids perception of the world. Otherwise a pretty normal guy who likes to brew beer.

Music, Movies, and Books
A few favorites - good jazz and meaningful stories - but mostly omnivorous in all things.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I've had the amazing luck to have live in Alaska, loved some wonderful women and raised some great kids. Never figured to be president, or an astronaut. This is better.
Teach, Learn, Share
I believe we teach best what we most need to learn. I also believe that the purpose of education is to replace an empty mind with an open one, and that maturity is seen in the ability to entertain a concept without accepting it. Travel's a good way to start.
