Über mich
Moving to Japan from Australia to experience the challenges and rewards of living, working and getting involved in another community. Originally visiting to watch the rugby World Cup, my mate Gooch and I are staying over on a working holiday visa. A year ago I arrived back in Australia from England where I was for 14 months. My Girlfriend and I were instructors at the local youth outdoor centre and have been lucky enough to be trained and now running sessions on activities such as archery, zipline, climbing walls, high ropes, caving, outdoors obstacle courses and a 15m high team swing.
Warum ich bei Couchsurfing bin
I like to explore places and really get a feel for what it's like to live there. It can be great to see the famous statue or mountain that everyone sees and talks about but I'm more interested in seeing and doing what is great about a place from the perspective of someone that lives there. We want to explore as much as we can but it has challenges when we are trying to save up in a country that is new to us anyway, so being able to travel without it costing an arm and leg is fantastic for us.
We hope that we can learn from good experiences with Couchsurfing and return the favours by hosting when we're back in Australia!

Musik, Filme und Bücher
Lately I've been enjoying reading some self help books mainly to do with pushing yourself out of your comfort zone and getting the most out of relationships with others. Some I've enjoyed are:
-The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People
-Rich Dad Poor Dad
-Feel the Fear and Do it Anyway
I also enjoy fantasy books
-Harry Potter
-The Wheel of time Series
My fav movies have to be Johnny English, Lord of the Rings, Gladiator and Troy
Eine tolle Erfahrung, die ich gemacht habe
Working with special needs kids helping them do things they'd never imagined they could do such as shooting an arrow or getting up a climbing wall has been really rewarding. Though slightly stressful when one of them decides to run forward to collect their arrows while everyone else is still shooting! Definitely keeps you on your toes.
Lehren, lernen, teilen
Things I can teach:
- How to speak in an Australian accent + learning the intricacies (slang) of our language.
- How to perform gym/bodyweight exercises and help write a program for you!
- How to perform the perfect rugby tackle and pass a rugby ball.
- How to read sheet music (if I remember it's been a few years since I've played)
- How to play some drinking games and some Australian chants, though every trip we go on we say we won't drink to save some money and have more time and energy for activities though drinks seem to creep in somehow...
I am willing to learn and experience anything. Particularly anything sporty or outdoorsy.
Was ich mit Gastgebern teilen kann
I am open to sharing anything about my past experiences and stories particularly about what life is like in Australia and offer suggestions and tips on where to go/what to do if you were thinking of living or travelling there.
I am easy to get along with and very happy to chill out and go with the flow, can offer quality (hopefully ;)) conversations and company but also happy to take a back seat if you prefer. Willing to give a hand with anything that needs doing such as moving furniture/washing/emptying bins. Would particularly like to help if walking dogs are involved!
