About Me

I'm an art school graduate with a pretty bad sense of fashion, but I like to think that I'm easy to deal with and chat to. Definitely not ever the loudest voice in the room. There's also a bit of nerd in me that must be acknowledged. I binge on episodes of Archer, and can cook a mean dinner (although sometimes it turns out to be breakfast for dinner). My mum thinks I'm pretty cool, I'm not so convinced. But I always try and stay happy no matter whereabouts in the world I am, or who I'm with.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm only new to CS but it's a fantastic way to meet some nice people, very handy to get some insider knowledge about the part of the world that you're in, and great when you're trying to travel on a shoe-string budget!

Interests

In no particular order:
Playing the piano (not overly well...),
pointing cameras at stuff,
all sorts of gaming, both video and other,
anything vaguely associated with skiing,
drawing people in cafes when they're not looking at me,
drawing people in cafes when they realise I'm doing it,
table tennis,
the glorious sport of chess,
explaining cricket to Europeans,
writing overly sentimental poetry,
dancing like a complete idiot,
giving dirty looks at people who talk too loudly in intimate spaces,
meandering through the middle of cities,
pretending I'm cool when I surf,
gummy bears,
and other stuff that I can't think of right now...

Music, Movies, and Books

Music is something that I have dedicated way too many hours to over the years when I probably should've been doing school or university work. If you have an interest in almost any genre then we have something to talk about. Additionally, if you want to raid my library of about 12,000 songs (at last count) you're more than welcome to find some new tunes!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Surfed on the same wave as a 6ft shark in Margaret River.
Ski instructed people from all over the world in Verbier.
Been thoroughly outmatched by the locals drinking saké in Nozawa Onsen.
Played hacky-sack in the middle of the Grand Place in Brussels.
Made fresh tracks in the Highland Bowl in Aspen.
Slept under the most beautiful night sky in the middle of the Northern Territory.
Eaten grilled mahi mahi looking over the ocean in Bali.
Skated on penny boards through the streets of Budapest.
Walked past countless waterfalls in Plitvička.
Spent over an hour watching the ceiling dance in Amsterdam.
Met some incredible people everywhere I've been.

Teach, Learn, Share

I think sharing experiences is probably the most valuable thing. If you're open and receptive to others then there are no limits to what you can learn.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Hopefully a few laughs and some good stories, I can do my thing in the kitchen, and maybe share a cheeky drink if it's in order!
