ABOUT ME

Most important things in my life are my work as a part-time firefighter, mountaineering, rock and ice climbing, backcountry (wild) camping and my friends. Quiet guy but with a good sense of humour, originally from Scotland. The simple things in life are the most valuable for me - good company, the open air and learning from folk. In Switzerland with work at the moment.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Happy to give folk a place to stay and an introduction to climbing, mountaineering and the region.

When I'm staying with a host I like to do something to help them and thank them for their kindness.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Only stayed with someone through couchsurfing once - a really great experience and learned a lot from him. Look forward to welcoming anyone who's in the area.

Do a lot outdoors - climbing, rugby (wing), mountaineering - so don't have a chance to watch many movies. Read a lot for work and poetry - happy to share both.

Climbing some of the great classic ice routes on the North face of Ben Nevis. Doing farm work up in Vesterålen beside Lofoten Arctic Norway was also wonderful.

Always very keen to learn. Happy to teach people climbing / mountaineering, car repairs, forestry, also happy to talk about my work as a firefighter and about the culture and mountains in Switzerland, Norway and Scotland.

Very happy to share climbing, mountaineering, etc. Also very happy to do some cooking for hosts, help with housework, cleaning, repairs, buying food, etc.
