ABOUT ME
Someone at the festival said I am a "likeable weird," and I think that's fair.
My map is so filled with saved places it's no longer functional.
From startups to mega corporations not settling on a career.
PHILOSOPHY
"...to live deliberately, to front only the essential facts of life, and see if I could not learn what it had to teach, and not, when I came to die, discover that I had not lived." - Henry David Thoreau, Walden
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I have a disproportional number of close friends from Couchsurfing.
Too poor to travel during university, we started out hosting surfers weekly in our 6 person flat and became a hostel. That was in 2013-14, South End Boston (shout out Wally's jazz club). In 2015 I traveled through Greece and that Summer toured Western Europe, CSing every night, biking from town to town and became officially untethered. Somehow I ended up in Berlin, where I now longer term Couchsurf since 6 years.
Pre-COVID I traveled every week but I still try to meet up with the curious souls. Everyone I've met here seems like distant relatives that one day I will see, all together, like that last scene in Big Fish when Ewan McGregor carries his father to the river. *spoiler alert* https://youtu.be/RAvoR20o9s4
Interests
Getting lost on my bike, surviving generational catastrophe, hidden places, Fusion festival!, subplots, being uncomfortable, ice dip, Finnish sauna, feminism, meditation, crescendos, logic, card games, metaphors, the stars and the unknown.
but most of all: people who create
- social experiments
- delighting people
- dancing into the morning
- making a mess in my kitchen
- trading jokes and riddles
- writing notes i never read
- engineering camp sites
- doctorate in drinking games
- robot takeover
- ice cold water
- swimming across the lake
- not asking boring questions

Teach, Learn, Share
Teach: knots, setting up a camp site, how to swim, handstand basics, growing a righteous beard, problem solving, cooking with whatever you have, drinking games, frugal living, traveling cheap, breakfast DJ, getting started with meditation, American slang, classic American rock, New York hip hop, the electric slide, a couple of jokes, drinking games.
Learn: ahh fucking German, traditions, communities, games, jokes, tricks and riddles AND what knots do you know?
What I Can Share with Hosts
Two-day-pass to Berlin; improv, drunken stories, seeing the positive in the negative, and if we are in luck, an unusually unique perspective
