-----—------

Why is talking about myself so difficult when it comes to writing it down?!It's not normally this hard in friendly conversation!

In 6th grade, my parents started me on Judo, and was part of a marching band. I was a piper, meaning I play the flute. I also had the loudest voice, so I was the one to shout out numbers at rehearsals. I loved both of those extra curriculars, and continued them until I graduated high school. At that time I was really good! I got the bronze medal in the Judo competition for the Chin state in the junior high division. I was so proud.

I'll give a little bit of my broader priorities. Like most other people, I strive to be honest, good, and happy. And I would say that normally, I am happy (although I am sad sometimes, and that is hard.) To me, it's not so important to define happiness exactly in words, but rather to say what makes me happy, and go from there. I love to sing, and sing all the time. I love other people and friends, and when they are happy, I am happy too. I guess I spend quite some effort sometimes making them happy. But I'm happy alone too. I like to sing alone and think alone. When my airline stations me in our capital, Nay Pyi Taw, I'm often alone because it's currently so empty. At my hotel, there's a lake. I like to walk out there, to a bridge that's by the water. I jump down to that bridge and sit there, and look out on it, and think how life is so much a collection of moments for us to enjoy.

In more material terms, I like tea. Morning tea, afternoon tea, all types of tea! I would say that I have a good deal of leisure in my life: my room is crowded with books. I love good food. One thing I try to do is talk with elder people. I think that's the best thing that we can give them as comfort. Their happiness then makes me feel very good, so I know I'm not wasting either of our time! As per karma, I hope that people might come up to me. Because I'll be old too one day. Plus, I hear some really cool stories and learn some nice things. For instance, one story that an older lady who became my adopted grandmother told me taught me to never give a promise if you can't keep it. Myanmar control system is under a mixed public private control. She was working in a ministry in Yangon. Her head came and said “Jessie, give me a part back.” She said, “where is the written approval?” He said “It's ok, the general said to give it to me.” She asked him to come back to her when he had that proved in writing. He never came back! Later on in the year, there was a big problem with governmental audits, and that same head was put in prison for 6 months. Had she given it to him, she would have been in prison too, but instead she was promoted to his position.

Anyway, sorry for the rambling. Contact me if you want to stay in Yangon; I really can't promise I can host you because of my flight schedule. And if I am around, be warned that my house is a traditional Myanmar house! We don't have AC or beds, but we do have a cotton mattress (if my brother is in Mandalay). Don't expect luxury. Expect a good friend though :)

And if I contact you regarding surfing, please please consider having. I promise that I will be the best company that I am able to be. :)
