About Me

NOTE: VERY new to site... I have some references within my profile photos.
Hi there! I’m William from Canada 🇨🇦 I LOVE connecting to people from different cultures, faiths and countries. I am a warm, respectful travelert and current student at Vancouver Island University studying Psychedelic-Assisted Therapy and working toward my Master’s in Counseling. I love connecting —whether through meaningful conversation or simply being a peaceful guest. I’m clean, emotionally grounded, adaptable, and happy to help out with anything from dishes to chopping wood.

I currently work at a local rehabilitation hospital supporting teenagers struggling with mental health conditions. It’s been my life’s work to date—and I absolutely love it.

For over 10 years, I’ve hosted international students and newcomers in my home, welcoming people from roughly 30 different countries. I’ve experienced how powerful simple hospitality can be, and I’m always grateful for the chance to connect through kindness, shared space, and good conversation.

I’ve also traveled to about 40 countries—always with a desire to give, to be a blessing in some way to the people I meet or to the country as a whole. I believe travel is more meaningful when it’s mutual, grounded in respect, openness, and generosity.

I’m currently a student at Vancouver Island University (VIU) in the Psychedelic-Assisted Therapy program, and now working toward my Master’s in Counseling. This path has deepened my compassion, emotional health, and love for meaningful connection.

As a guest, I’m emotionally grounded and easygoing. If you enjoy chats and connection, I’m all in. If you prefer peace and quiet and are busy living your own life, that’s totally great too. I’m very comfortable being independent and embracing solitude—or helping out wherever I can.

If you’ve got some heavier work around—like chopping wood or lifting stuff—I’d honestly be delighted to lend a hand.

I’ve done a lot of personal growth and therapy over the years, and in recent years, working with psychedelic medicines has been a game-changer for me. My life has never been better, and my spirit has never felt so free.

I’m clean, respectful, grateful, and always willing to contribute to the space I’m in. Thanks so much for considering me—I’d be honored to share a small part of the journey with you and your family.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I’m traveling on a budget and love meeting people from different cultures, religions, and countries. When I’m home, I’m happy to host—sharing stories and connection means a lot to me.

Interests

I love the hush of ocean waves,
The mountain trails, the forest caves.
A simple hike, a breath of air,
A moment still, with none to spare.

Art and music stir my soul,
They help me feel complete and whole.
From murals bright to drumming deep,
To quiet tea and dreamful sleep.

I serve in healing, heart and mind,
With breathwork, space, and time aligned.
Psychedelic paths I tread,
To learn, to grow, to heal what’s dead.

I cherish people—far and near—
Their stories, songs, their joy and fear.
Cultures, faiths, and meals well-shared,
A world revealed through love and care.

So if you walk, or sit, or sing,
Or simply want a quiet spring—
I’m glad to share the space I’m in,
With open hands and open skin.

Music, Movies, and Books

My all-time favorite movie is Bekas — it’s about two young Kurdish brothers, and it’s a true heart-warmer, comedy, and tear-jerker all in one. I’ll buy you dinner if you end up crying more than I did… which, honestly, was pretty much the entire movie. 😄

I’m a lover of all things art—visual, musical, poetic, and everything in between. I serve on the board for Arts on the Ave in Edmonton, a vibrant grassroots arts organization. Art fills my heart and soul, and I love to experience it wherever I go—whether it’s a local gallery, street mural, live music, or just creative conversation over tea.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

One amazing thing I’ve done:
I volunteered at a rehabilitation program for orphaned and rescued orangutans in Sumatra, Indonesia.

Teach, Learn, Share

I consider myself a lifelong student, always eager to keep learning—especially in the areas of healing and personal growth. My current passion is supporting others on their healing journeys. I can share a bit about meditation and breathwork, and sometimes I travel with my Indigenous drum, which I use in grounding practices and deep breathing sessions. It’s simple, soulful, and meant to bring calm and connection.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Good conversation (or peaceful quiet, if you prefer), deep respect for your space, and a genuine interest in learning from you and your surroundings. I’m always happy to help out with things around the house—cooking, cleaning, or even chopping wood if needed!

I can also share simple breathwork or meditation practices, and I sometimes travel with my Indigenous drum, which I use in grounding and calming rituals. I’ve lived a full and reflective life, and I’m happy to share stories, laughter, and deep listening—whatever feels right in the moment.
