I've been attacked by midges in Scotland, by dogs in Macedonia and by an ex-KGB drunk in Kazakhstan. I've half-frozen in the mountains of Kyrgyzstan and half-starved in the mountains of Montenegro, and was nearly struck by lightning in the mountains of Kazakhstan. (etc. etc.)
