About Me

Travelling eastwards for seven months.

ABOUT ME

More of a host than a traveller until now (on a Hospitality Club profile), I have had wonderful experiences with random sleepovers from all over the world and would like to try surfing some couch myself.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

My roommate and I have had Germans, Spaniards, Americans, Australians, Brits and three hysterical Fins on our couches and floor. I like it when I can talk properly to someone, so I had the most interesting times with English (and German) speakers. The Fins walked the fine line between hilarious and exasperating when they became obsessed with the three-tone sound of Dutch ambulances, turned it into a guitar song, and played it without stopping on their guitars into the wee hours of morning.

This year, I have met amazing hosts and other CS members all over te world, and it's been wonderful. Beating new Japanese friends at old school Nintendo games in Osaka Videogame bars, having lively discussions during rideshares and finding a tiny soap factory in a jungle paradise in Hawaii.

Interests

Books! I have been known to hoard and will take more then is prudent in my backpack to read, trade, discuss. Otherwise: rowing, singing, drawing, writing, and occasionally, when the opportunity arises, knitting.

Music, Movies, and Books

just finished The handmaid's tale by Margaret Atwood, now on to Shteyngart, Super sad true love story.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Walked the three-day Routeburn Track in New Zealand; known for its magnificent views - except I walked in torrential rain, wading knee-deep through thundering waterfalls. Amazing fun.

Teach, Learn, Share

Ask me about street names, place names, word origins - I might just have gone on a Wikipedia binge to research it in the past! Always up for complex discussions, or just debate whether Blue Cheese or Artichoke is the best possible dip.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Music and incredible tales; drawings and drawing, homecooked meals, brownies and general silliness.

Countries I’ve Visited

Australia, Cambodia, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Laos, New Zealand, Philippines, Portugal, Russian Federation, Tanzania, Thailand, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom, United States

Countries I’ve Lived In
