About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Work to live and see the world

ABOUT ME

I am a single college graduate and aspiring project manager living in Newport Beach, CA. I work hard but love my time off and love living at the beach. I play sports to stay fit and try to travel as much as possible because there are so many different people and places in the world - all of which have something different to offer.

PHILOSOPHY

Work to live - not the other way around. People are what matter - do unto others what you would have them do unto you. Seize all opportunities because you only live once and at the end of the day you can't take your money or possessions with you. Experiences, memories and impressions are paramount.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I used to travel more and participate as the couchsurfer but in recent years have become grounded by work for the most part so I host more - living vicariously through those on their own journey until I hit the road again!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have met some amazing and selfless people through couchsurfing who have opened their homes to me, went out of their way to bring me into their lives and done everything in their power to provide me with an awesome experience. It used to amaze me that none of them expected anything in return and were so happy to host. As their guest I actually felt bad for how gracious and giving they were. However after hosting several people myself both while living in SD and now in Newport Beach I understand. The system operates by paying it forward and while couchsurfing affords priceless opportunities to experience a place from a local's perspective, contributing toward that experience for someone else whether by simply providing a couch or bed, showing them a hole in the wall restaurant that may not show up on tourist websites, introducing them to friends or simply sitting and sharing personal stories and/or knowledge is indescribably rewarding.

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies - I love feel-good comedies. One of my favorites is I Love You Man. However I also enjoy a good suspense and/or action movie as well. I can do without scary though.

Music - I am open to most genres but I particularly enjoy Classic Rock (e.g. Pink Floyd) and Alternative (e.g. Ratatat, Radiohead). Not a big country fan.

Books - I don't read too much but a few of my favorites are Catcher in the Rye, The Stranger and Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I have run with the bulls (and gotten kicked in the head by one!) in Pamplona, Spain.

Teach, Learn, Share

The left side of my brain definitely dominates. I am a planner and have utilized that tool to get through college, get scholarships, get a job and get around in other countries. I have been working in construction management in the healthcare sector for a large GC for 4 years. Just a bit of vague information but take from it what you will and feel free to ask me whatever!

I would love to learn a new language (or languages!) and develop my creative side.

Countries I’ve Visited

Austria, Costa Rica, Czech Republic, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Netherlands, Panama, Poland, Spain, Sweden, Turkey, United Kingdom, United States
