Hello Everyone,

My name is Winnie, I'm from Toronto and I hope we'll get to meet soon :).

I’m currently planning my first ever trip... it was kind of spontaneous I had to visit a sick relative in Hong Kong. But I thought to myself since I’m already spending all this money travelling halfway around the world... why not also see Japan? Ever since I was a kid I was in love with anime and Japanese culture so it’s always been a dream of mine to visit this beautiful country. So I will be visiting Japan for the first time ever and going on my first ever solo trip the end of April to early May!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I love the idea of traveling but never really got the chance to do it because of family responsibilities or finances. I'm constantly working and so I don't get too many days off. But I'm working towards my dreams and aspirations to hopefully become a writer and eventually an independent film director one day so hopefully it'll pay off. Which is also why I want to start traveling here and there. I truly believe in traveling and learning new things helps broaden one's mind and as a "director", I think it should be a well rounded yet open and resourceful kind of person. Plus the idea of making friends along those journey sounds awesome so I hope I will make some new friends soon :).

As much as I would like to give back and host other guests, I can’t at the moment. I live with my parents so it’s their rules...and they’re not big on having guests over. However, I can show you around Toronto!!! I’m not a club so if that’s what you’re into than I’m not much help either...BUT!! I’m good with touristy things as I graduated in travel and tourism so I can show you around the city and show you a good time :).

Music, Movies, and Books

I really like neo-classical music...so movie sound tracks, anime original soundtrack etc. My favourites are Two Steps from Hell and Thomas Bergersen. I do like some pop and various other genre of music too :).

Favourite movies are... Watchmen, Most/The Bridge, The Fall, Requiem for a Dream, Van Helsing, Ice Age...and a lot more but these are definitely ones I don't mind watching again and again...anytime.

Books...there arn't too many books I really like, I find it hard to keep me captivated whether it's the story or the writer's style. I tend to read more blog posts and articles than books.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The of the most memorable and amazing thing I've done was to complete a 5 week French course in Ottawa called "Explore". It was a lot of fun and being away from home for 5 weeks living on campus was one of the most memorable and fun experiences I've had.

I really enjoyed traveling, meeting new people, and exploring in a new city!

And yes I did graduate form this program even though I was only in Beginner 2 haha.
