About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Short-term: perfecting the art of frying Chinese aubergines. Medium-term: finding a place to call home. Long-term: global revolution.

ABOUT ME

Someday I'll escape modern civilization to live in a hippie van, reading stacks of books and picking my own sunsight every night. Or maybe I'll find a city apartment where slightly insane writers and artists will come together to write bad pamphlets and consume copious amounts of red wine. I oscillate between activism and escapism and, as a result, do neither of these things properly.

I have a philosophy/literature degree from a fancy New York City university that rendered me simultaneously heavily indebted and completely unemployable. I like to pass this off as an edgy and radical political commitment.

In my free time, I'm an amateur psychogeographer, which means I like to walk a lot (preferably barefoot) and explore the aesthetic, emotional, and spiritual dimensions of the city. I also like to seek out deeply disturbing Asian horror films with long-haired demonic little girl spirits, engage in existentialist discourse with marginal characters, and eat dumplings and noodle soups.

PHILOSOPHY

"I don’t feel that it is necessary to know exactly what I am.

The main interest in life and work is to become someone else that you were not in the beginning. If you knew when you began a book what you would say at the end, do you think that you would have the courage to write it?

What is true for writing and for love relationships is true also for life. The game is worthwhile insofar as we don’t know where it will end."

- Michel Foucault

What I Can Share with Hosts

I'm a psychogeographer: a student "of the precise laws and specific effects of the geographical environment, consciously organized or not, on the emotions and behavior of individuals." I like to philosophize about architecture and places I encounter, as well as playing all sorts of urban games, exploring dark alleyways, and behaving inappropriately in public places. So, ideally, I'd like to go on walks together and to see the city through the eyes of my hosts and guests.
